2011 IOM World Championship. Drop out guidance

The Organising Authority has been asked whether NCA’s can substitute another competitor if one of their competitors who are included in the 76 entered boats has to drop out. In the absence of any guidance from the IOMICA Class Championship Rules, the Organising Authority and IOMICA are giving the following clarification/ruling on how drop outs will be dealt with.

Following further discussions on this matter it has been decided that the published decision has been withdrawn with effect from  4 March 2011 and replaced with a revised version (serial number Interpretation 2011- IOM-1(a)), the text of which is to be found on both the websites of IRSA and IOMICA.

This revision is made subject to a change to the class rules, to clarify permitted types of rudders in the class.

Allocation of places for the IOM 2011 World Championship in Great Britain Taken from IOM Class Championship Rules
The maximum number of boats shall be 76.
The initial closing date shall be February 27th, 2011.
The allocation of places shall take place by March, 12th 2011.

Request for Interpretation of Class Rules concerning Rigging

Relevant rules
 
F.2.3 LIMITATIONS
The function of items shall be limited to what is normally provided by items of their type.
F.2.4 CONSTRUCTION
(b) The position of parts, and the length and tension of  rigging, may be adjustable unless otherwise restricted.
F.3.3 FITTINGS
(a) MANDATORY
(2) Shroud fitting(s) or opening(s).
Observation
The class rules permit shroud fittings or openings (both plural).
Question A
Is it permitted to have a fitting in the form of a ring which goes closely round the mast and both shrouds and which may be adjusted  vertically between the shroud attachment fitting and the spreaders (if used)?
Question B
Is it permitted to have a fitting in the form of a ring which goes closely round the mast and both shrouds and which is fixed at some point between the shroud attachment fitting and the spreaders (if used)?
Question C
If neither A nor B is permitted, is it permitted to use alternative shroud attachment points during an event?
Question D
If shroud fittings are used, is it permitted to have openings for shrouds also (and vice versa) ?

Notice of Meeting for 2010 IOM ICA Annual General Meeting

This note constitutes the official notice of the 2010 IOM ICA AGM to be held electronically on November 15th, 2010.

The Agenda for this meeting has been prepared and distributed to all World Council Members and is available to everyone via the link at the end of this note.

We will post each resolution in separate topic in a section of the IOM ICA Forum so that any open discussion on these topics can be more readily followed. We ask that you not start topics in this section but please feel free to comment on any of the resolutions within their individual threads.

In the next while you should receive a ballot from your NCA representative asking for you vote on these items.
