2012 IOM Euro in Malaga

IOMICA Events SC has accepted ESP and Malaga proposal for IOM 2012 European Championship (October 30th to November 4th)

We will test at this continental championship a shorter event (2 days measurement + 4 days racing) with 4 heats so 62 competitors.
Events SC will propose next AGM to vote for modified Class Championship Rules for a 4 heats continental championship in order to get adapted (~proportional) allocation of places.
We await a confirmation from Marblehead Worlds organisers (initially planned October 14th/21st) to start their event 1 week earlier so hopefully they won’t interfere too much.
We have also received a very good quality proposal from ISR, but we have considered location too far from most competitors for an European Championships. They have so been offered to bid for next World Championship in 2013.
Deadline for submission of proposals for 2013 Worlds is January 1st 2012.

Allocation of places for the IOM 2010 European Championship in France

Taken from IOM Class Championship Regulations

8. ENTRIES

8.1 The maximum number of boats shall be 76.

8.2 The initial closing date shall be June 24th, 2010.

8.3 The allocation of places shall take place within 14 days of the initial closing date.

8.4 Member NCAs should only send entry fees for those competitors gaining places allocated in Stage One.

8.5 Member NCAs shall send entry forms for their competitors entering in Stages Two, Three & Four only if they are prepared to guarantee payment of the entry fee for those competitors getting a place. Once a place is allocated payment is required whether that competitor races or not.

Preliminary Informations

1. Venue

The 2010 International One Metre Class European Championship will be held in Pierrelatte(26) Base Nautique de Pierrelatte. Coordinates GPS: Lat: 44° 21′ 48.19 ” N Long: 4° 40′ 53.60 ” E

2. Programme

  • 24th June Initial closing date for entries
  • 08th July Allocation of places
  • 01st September Final date for submission of IOM Class Certificates
  • 24th – 25th September Registration, Practice, Equipment Inspection
  • 26th September Equipment Inspection : 8h30-11h – 12h first warning signal
  • 27th – 28th September Racing days (09:00 first warning signal)
  • 29th September Reserve day (The day may be used for racing if 10 completed races
  • have not been achieved at the end of September 28st)
  • 30th September– 2nd
  • October
  • Racing days (09:00 first warning signal, 16:00 last warning signal for
  • the last race on October 2nd
  • 2nd October Award ceremony
