The target that we established last year is to aim for somewhere near the middle of November each year for the actual AGM to take place. It will be, again, completely “electronic” although we may try to make it a bit more interactive if I can find a simple way of doing that.

4.1. Meetings of the World Council shall be held
4.1.1. Either in such physical place and time as the IOM ICA Executive Committee may
consider most convenient to the majority of the members,
4.1.2. Or by electronic communication.

Therefore the target date for the 2012 IOM ICA Annual General Meeting is to be November 18th, 2012.

By the Regulations, there are some milestone dates that occur prior to the meeting. They are:

September 9, 2012

4.6. Resolutions for an ordinary or annual meeting of the World Council shall be specified to
the IOM ICA Secretary in writing at least 10 weeks before the meeting at which they are to
be proposed.

September 23, 2012

4.7. At least 8 weeks notice in writing shall be given of any ordinary or annual World Council
meeting by the IOM ICA Secretary to the members of the World Council, together with a
copy of the agenda for the meeting and of any resolutions which are to be proposed at
the meeting.

October 21, 2012

4.9. Four (4) weeks before any meeting of the World Council, Member NCAs and NCSs shall
declare in writing to the IOM ICA Secretary, by boat number and owner’s name, the
Registered Owners, Registered Boats, Certificated Owners, and Certificated Boats that the
Member NCA or NCS represents.

Not in the Regulations but voting results from each NCA need to be in my hands before the meeting is called to order in order to be able to represent that a quorum is represented by NCAs that are actually submitting votes.

This is not an election year and so we are not looking for any nominations at this point as all Exec positions are currently filled and I have not received any notice form any existing member of the Exec that they are considering dropping out. Next year, 2013, is an election year and all positions are up for grabs. Maybe start beating the drums in your country to see if there is someone who may be intersted in getting involved. A good election contest is always a healthy thing.

IOM ICA Secretary

A number of factors are involved in this decision but the final determining factor has been physical changes to the site that are beyond the control of the host club and that have rendered the site unusable for our purposes.

Much effort by the NCA for ESP and the Host Club, Real Club Mediterráneo de Málaga (RCM), has gone  into attempting to find an alternate location but to no avail.

The IOM ICA Events Sub Committee wishes to thank ESP for stepping forward to host this event.

The Events Sub Committee will accept proposal for alternate hosts for this event but, given the short time left in the year to organize such an event, those interested must be in contact with the Committee before the end of April.
