Gee Val, You managed, in less than 2 lines, to sum up what was preceded by a whole page of comments and opinions. Ten out of ten!

In reply to Zoran's last post. The cost of judges/umpires is a substantial cost.Although this cost varies greatly depending on where the event is held. Obviously the cost basis for the host country applies, as well as the distance travelled by the officials, and other factors. If as in Australia whe...

Event costs

I think Zoran's comments are very relevant. Cutting entry numbers can be counterproductive. Fixed costs do not change dramatically if entry numbers are reduced. One of the major costs (Judges/umpires), is a fact of life under the current conditions of running a major event.Reducing fleet numbers, an...

Alfonso, You make good points, and my interpretation of good racing/wind conditions includes all the points you make. On you point #3, I would suggest that for many skippers outside the Mediteranean area, that having a major championship where there were reliable and reasonably consistent winds, tha...

Saw Davor's post and had to post this. My overall impression of the event in Dubrovnik was of a job done well, under the circumstances. Firstly, if all organizing committees had someone of Davors quality, it would make the job a lot easier. He was obliging, helpful, and a pure gentleman!. Social eve...

Roy, I appreciate the answer. It pretty much goes the way I thought things happened. The end result of an interpretation can be black and white as per your example of using carbon in an IOM hull, but can in other cases come down to perhaps just 2 members of the technical committee casting their vote...

I think the subject of Spektrum radios raises the issue of technical interpretations. Perhaps someone (either current or past Technical Committee member),could explain how decisions are made ie; are they left to people experienced in the field of the subject or object that is under investigation, or...

I don't know why I am doing this as I promised myself I would not get involved in the type of discussion we have re the Spekrum receiver. Perhaps the best way I can define both sides of the argument is to compare them to another sporting competition taking place right now. It is the Rugby Union Worl...

Voting at 2007 Worlds

My attention has been brought to the comments on the subject of voting on resolutions, ie 2 resolutions being voted on as a combined vote etc. After reading the postings I think it is timely to reflect on the upcoming WC AGM 2007, and the importance of the need to vote in a way that takes the class ...

Texalium

Hi, I am posting this message following an email I received drawing my attention to the debate on Texalium. On reading the comments made, I sent an email to Lester Gilbert stating that I had seen the forum and that it reinforced my views on forums and their usefullness. I then received a request fro...
