Roy 1. In short the current situation is likely ISAF still waiting for some radio sailing classes to become ISAF classes in that the special allowance in the ISAF regulation for RSD to run World Championships for its classes could be deleted. ISAF does not affiliate ICAs but classes and the One Metr...

In view of what Bruce Andersen writes below I have to state that the ISAF review of the IOMICA proposals to changed class rules and requests for interpretations was a one time favour to class. It was made very clear by ISAF that further proposals and requests have to come from the One Metre as an "I...

Hi Alfonso

I just forwarded to ISAF what I got from IOMICA.

It seems like Bruce Andersen's reply is the answer to your question.

I might have mentioned this before in this forum, but reading this thread I take the risk of repeating myself. :-) A couple of defined terms relating to measurement was changed by the introduction of the ERS 2005-2008. The reason for the changes was the frequent mix up of what happens at certificati...

Val The defined term "ply" first appeared in the IYRU Sail Measurement Rules 1993 and was: "A layer or layers of sail material (the word ply is both singular and plural)" The definition was changed with the introduction of the Equipment Rules of Sailing 1997-2000 and has since remained: "A sheet of ...

The original class rules wording, based on the IYRU Sail Measurement Rules, was: "The same cloth shall be used throughout the body of the sail ." In the 2002 class rules, now based on the ERS, this was changed to: "The body of the sail shall consist of the same ply throughout ..." Inserting the ERS ...

Achilles recommends diagrams and I fully agree. Diagrams are often a very good way of illustrating something that can seem very abstract when explained in text and that is why there are so many diagrams in the ERS. I am sure that Bruce means the right when stating that "the head point is the top of ...

Hi Don

The introduction of the One Metre class rules state: The rules in Part II are closed class rules. Measurement shall be carried out in accordance with the ERS except where varied in this Part.

And:
A.5.2 Except where used in headings, when a term is printed in “boldâ€

The ISAF-RSD PC is working on having the situation and the relation to ISAF sorted out as soon as possible. The PC is trying to prevent the One Metre class being effected and the initiative to have the class rules authority transferred to ISAF is one such step. While sorting out the ISAF-RSD issues ...

Roy

The offer stands if the IOMICA Executive asks.

If the IOMICA Executive asks, I will ask the ISAF-RSD PC for permission to contact ISAF on this issue.

If I get the PC approval to contact ISAF, then I will.

A final posting on my part regarding this subject If ISAF-RSD exists the One Metre is an ISAF-RSD class and can have world championships. If the One Metre is an ISAF-RSD class, then RSD is the class rules authority. If the One Metre becomes an ISAF class, then ISAF will be the class rules authority...
