Re: 2016 EUROS

Maybe if an IOMICA official could explain how not allowing the 34th ranked skipper in Europe to sail in the EUROPEAN championships is developing the class around the World? If this was me i would put my boat up for sale and go and get a white plastic boat from Thailand that measures 95cm and put two...

Re: 2016 EUROS

FANTASTIC news........

And just as you are officially reported as being ranked 34th in Europe, would of been a little embarrassing if you could not even get a place at the Europeans.

Have a glass of red wine and celebrate.

2016 EUROS

Could someone explain to me please. Entry fee is very very expensive and you need to travel from USA to be assistant PRO? No one from Europe available? Expensive trip. 12 non European sailing but French Achille is only reserve, he sails and supports the class but cannot get a place, terrible. Come o...

Re: BE MY GUEST....

I am both fine in the art of reading and understanding what has been written on the rules for 'GUESTS' , it is mine and others concern that the ESC have a big problem of applying 'noteworthy dedication AND service to the class' as being the criteria for a 'GUEST' place. It's that easy, these are you...

BE MY GUEST....

My understanding of the inclusion of a skipper to a competition as a 'GUEST' was that they had either NO representation from a NCA or they had demonstrated NOTEWORTHY DEDICATION AND SERVICE to the class (8.6 iv) Could someone please explain on this forum why this rule is not being adhered to and bec...

Re: Euro 2012 awarded to Croatia

Several years ago at an international race the host countries entry fees for their competitors were paid for from the other competitors entry fees, does this practice continue?

I see IOMICA is still taking a levy on each boat for the upcoming Euros.

If nothing else this thread has proven the saying. 'The squeaky wheel gets the oil' We now have accounts for IOMICA and accounts for Championships. Just a few more little answers on the subject of the £10 levy and thats it. IOMICA do not need that amount of money in the bank, do something constructi...

Re: The Cost of Operating a Major Event

This is fantastic, some figures to look at for future hosts to ponder over. If the regatta makes a profit does the profit go to the host club/Nation? Before anyone jumps down my throat for daring to even ask the question i completely agree with the hosts airing on the side of caution with the entry ...

Yahoo. I have found the yearly statement, it is in the AGM document Barry has just posted, thanks Barry. I am presuming the amounts are in Australian Dollars, please let us know. Very healthy looking balance sheet, nearly 11,000EURO in the black. (£9000.00/15000.00AUS) Good time to to implement the ...

Surely one of the exec committee have an opinion on this important issue? On 27th October there was a post to say the IOMICA financial statement will be ready soon, how far away are from seeing this? Is the 2010 Europeans report ready yet? How are the discussions with West Kirby going on the subject...

Hi David, go for a Smartwinch (RMG) from Australia, i would recommend the 280 ES but if you go on the website you may choose something else. You will find that although the Smartwinch is slightly more expensive than other winches on the market it is by far the most reliable with great aftersales car...

Re: IOMICA Fees

Reducing the entry fee is important but securing the race is far more important, to secure the race you have to secure the entry, to secure the entry you simply reduce the entry. At the moment the host has no idea how many will enter and could end up with shortfalls of £3000.00. 70 boats entered for...

Re: IOMICA Fees

Although a lower entry fee would be good what i actually said was to reduce the entry, this in turn may well reduce the entry fee as you would not be paying such a high contingency fund to pay for the shortfall in competitors, just 6 short of 76 leaves you with a deficit of about £2000.00, this is a...

Hi Olivier, no, i have never been to a big championship, do not agree that the other competitors would all pay £300.00+ to watch me at the back of the fleet learning how to sail an IOM, a bit like what happens at current big championships. I suspect that the French Euros were filmed by a local club ...
