Re: What batteries are people using?

I use pack of 5 Eneloop 2000 in the boat, never could run them flat in a day of sailing. I also tried to use eneloop 800 in pack of 5 in a Marblehead, where weight saving is an issue, and it was OK with RMG winch, but I always had a charged spare pack, just in case....

Re: Brushless winch

On mainboom they say it is protected Toni and I respond to all blog readers on the insulation board electronics. The pictures you see on the web have been made to highlight the electronic, without the protection of epoxy insulation that incorporates all of the shares in a semitransparent film and an...

Re: Graupner vs RMG sailwinch

Anyone tried the Eurgle winches?
I use a Graupner regatta on my Triple Crown and it works OK. First I had an RMG in it, but later I put the RMG in a Marblehead.
The RMG was faster and probably stonger, but the Graupner is OK too.

Re: All-wood Hull to scratch build?

Now you are stuck with me! Just kidding
No problem, but I won't be here for a few days, I am going to the 4th Hungarian IOM regatta :D

For my first wooden boat (the triple crown was the second) I used the same manual that John gave for the US1M boats. It is a very good manual.

Re: All-wood Hull to scratch build?

Hi Roberto

The Triple Crown is a good boat to start with. It can be built with flat deck if you want, I have built mine with "skiff style" deck.

Re: raising roles on NAVIGA???

Hi Tzvetan I have the rules as they were used in 2009 at the Naviga Worlds in Hungary Balatonlelle. Please give me a mail address and I send them to you. In fact as sailing rules they use the ISAF RRS part 2 as it was in 2003, with the difference that marks can be touched. Unfortunately this excepti...

Hi I know that Naviga isn't very popular here  but may I have a word? In our rules there is no other draft restriction only the depth of the fin measured from the bottom of the hull is limited to 38cm, and the main section of the hull, where the fin is attached, has to be a convex curve. I hav...

I have seen the idea on a german site Woodenstars Calculating was the easy part. I measured the greatest section, and I divided it by the width of the planks and I got the number of the planks. Than I measured the other sections, and I dvided them by the number of the planks so I got the width of th...

Bow bumper

For my new boat I made a silicone bow bumper. Could you tell me what kind of glue should I use to fix it on the bow? I tried a few types, even double faced tape, but doesen't sticks to anything. My previous boats had simple rubber bumpers, and I had no problems with gluing them.

I think lime is the same as basswood (maybe an east-europen version  ). For gluing I used a poliurethanic one, called Bison .
As it hardens, it also expands so it fills the gaps in the planking.

the shear at the stern looks like its straight back from 9-10
Yes, it is now, but I will cut it later.
Did you use the flair in the bow
Of course :) I used there some narrower planks. They are of different color, so one could think it's just for looking good.

I used red cedar too combined with lime.
what purpose the flair on the top of the first three sections
I think it is against nose diving.

I have built my first Triple Crown of pink foam, as in Naviga we can do it. photo It is light (we have no weight limit), it is fast, but it is ugly  , so I started a to build a new, wooden boat, and this will be built acording to the IOM rules. Here are some pictures . Fin and rudder are from ...

Talking about unpigmented fibers reminds me of a qusetion that I also asked in the foam hull topic, but received no answer.
What is the situation if I make a wooden hull, covered with glass+epoxy and painted on the exterior?

You are right. But it is a little bit hard to accept for me that it is all about the word "world". Do you think that a change of the name of an event could solve all the problems you told earlier? Anyhow, I will consult the other Romanian RC sailors, and if they agree, we will contact the national s...

This means that if we could convince Naviga to change the name of the championship, all the IOM sailors, for whom Australia is too far, could came to Poland and have great sailing for a 15 euro participation fee :P

Some elder rc sailors told me that there were times when Romania was YMRU and Naviga member in the same time. Is this possible, or I misunderstood something?
