He further said; the fact that the incident is inside the "circle" doesn't change anything, because the boats are so far apart all the time. I don't have the possibility to discuss this further with him, but I think he means that the boats are not rounding together, so the rules dealing with two boa...

I copied the diagram to an international judge.
I forgot to tell him that this was r/c so he said the boats where outside the two- boat circle....I am waiting to here if my added info changes anything.

He said that in this picture he would rule that blue tacked too close to green.

I still think John is right. This is a starboard/port situation. The part of the rule that says something about tacking to round the mark, has to do with tacking before the mark, or tacking to get to the mark. Blue boat has passed the mark and has two options, 1)continue on port tack 2) tack onto st...

At www.iom-nordic.org under "info" and "test your skills" at the bottom of the page, you will find similar situations that have been in the jury room.
Case 63 among others....

The way I see this is:

1) there were no overlap going into the rounding. if green chooses to go on the inside, she must keep clear of the blue boat.
2) it looks like blue have completed her tack and are on starboard when the contact situation occurs.

I would think green has to spin here....

I need help !

I have beeen working on a design database, where I wanted to collect all the IOM designs in the world. I have used a lot of hours searching, and I feel I have emptied my sources (internet). I now need your help ! 1) There are many designs in the database that are missing designer name. 2) There are ...

If you look at the www.iom-nordic.org under technical/design/extreme,
you will find a quote from Jeff stating that the Extreme is something else than the Cockatoo...
Jeff wrote this since there was many uncorrect rumours about the Extreme design going around.

"For sure, it would be less money for the iomca....."

Well, much more than nothing.

It isn't that hard to find out the reasons for not wanting to host a championship. Just ask the ones that has said no. They now what must be changed for them to say , yes.

Hi Anders, Yes it clearifies, but worse - it worries me ! What will happen with the international aspect of the IOM class if no one will host a championship in the future ? Is this because of the economic situation around setting this up? Is it because it is too much work? Is it the paticipants dema...

I agree with Ole Peder. This is not a problem This must be regulated at production/sales level not on users of the equipment. The producers sell their boats without bulbs. Bulbs are bought separately (no electronics) and put together privately. Why not use Gold :) looks good..... Or Plutonium or ura...

The first releases of the Spektrum system (like the one Anders Wallin uses), where made for cars. They use one channel - 79 people can race at the same time. The Dx6 is made for aeroplanes. Since planes take loops and rolls, the antenna is not allways pointing upwards (vital for the function). There...

Hello Krister, As is mentioned on www.IOM-Nordic.org, the DX6 is different than the one that is used as a module to existing radios. The Dx6 has twin receivers, so the antenna setup will be different than with the previous models. The Dx6 has two antennas. The drawback is that it uses two channels -...

oval loop holes in our rules ...

As I mentioned earlier this is becoming a new Texaluim issue. Again some owners think that boats already built shall get a "get out of jail" card. I don't think so, what is the point of rules then ? The first ten owners to break them can continue, the rest must stick to the rules ? The rules is know...

Oval holes

Hello, I find the whole thing strange. Isn't this a discussion about boats that where accepted in the Worlds? As I understand, the Cockatoo is sporting this feature in production already ? I should think that producers and designers should check their "inventions" leagality before putting them to us...
