Regardless of where the event is held, it is always up to each skipper to make himself present. Where the event is held has nothing to do with whether or not "the best" can or cannot attend. Everyone has an equal opportunity once they have qualified to secure their travels and make the event.

I don't have the numbers you are looking for, but since you are here at the IOM site, I'm assuming you are considering using it/them in an IOM? You will find that they will not get the job done under most conditions. There have been many threads regarding what servos work and don't work. Use the sea...

Gilbert, I just realized you are trying to do this on Dacron. It is possible, but much more time consuming. You will not be able to get it perfect I don't think, but it will come off good enough to apply new numbers. You will need more music and more paper towels, and probably a rum or two!

Good timing!
Just last week I videotaped the entire procedure on removing as well as installing ink type sail numbers. I am travelling home from the USA Nationals as I type, but will post the video on Youtube asap. I use acetone and lots of small cut paper towels.

Thanks, Andy. We'll be discussing it further in the days to come. Our Nationals is next week in the snow, and it will be a good time to get started. Do you think it will be possible to write it up to allow either membership, or do you think we'll have to pick one or the other? I don't think it will ...

Issues with AMYA, ISAF, relations with US Sailing

Hi, everyone. As some of you know, The AMYA (American Model Yachting Association) has decided that their sponsorship of International sailing has become a low priority on their annual budget, and they are no longer interested in paying our ISAF dues. Granted, there are no dues necessary at this time...

I'll venture a guess that it was at least partially intended to keep the boats relatively close enough to fit within a specific range.... keeping the extremes of a design at least somewhat close. I'm sure that this rule has had some effect on the ability of a 12+ year design to win at the highest le...

The benefit as I see it, is to put in the battery pack, seal up the boat, and tell your energy status without breaking open the seals. The idea of "plugging it in" between races to check the battery compromises the water tight integrity of the boat and makes the charge indicator idea somewhat less ...

It's a shame that this request never got submitted, and I am as guilty as the rest of the NCA reps. However, not a single comment has been posted against it. It is clear we all want it. I have one and will continue to use it. It is part of the battery based on the way it is installed. Roy, you sugge...

If my Deans Ultra Plugs happen to have a voltage indicator integral/permanently to the connector then it isn't a separate piece. Maybe RMG can turn their product into a plug for us. That's kind of what I meant.... an integral part of the pack. They do make "cells" that tell you their capacity (Dura...

What if you had a battery pack that included a direct wired voltmeter? The rule allows you to carry a battery pack. It does not limit it's specific construction.

Thanks for the update Anders. So it can be assumed that there will be no dues for 2008. With no cashflow for RSD, what will this mean in the future? Is the RSD position vacant? One of the things that really bothered me in the past was that RSD tended to make their own decisions without communicating...

I am definately on the other side of the fence here. Once a boat is measured and certificated, it is the responsibility of the owner to keep it in compliance with the rule. The owner is allowed to do maintenance on his boat. Let's not bog down the system with unwarranted measurements and certificati...

Don't try to bend a 7075 T-9 Easton mast. Chances are pretty good it will snap well before you can get a significant amount of pre bend into it. The 7075 Easton sections should be plenty stiff enough to get good jib stay tension without mast pre bend. Agreed. The Easton spar is tempered to an exten...

Tungsten is already allowed in another area within our rule (C7.3 (a)), why would you want to disallow it here? I'm a bit confused on your stance here.
