You may want to take a look at the link above.
Look for the March 2014 edition, page 51 near the bottom.
Here, Zvonko Jelacic, a top Croatian sailor gives his views on rudder servo's for the IOM.

The other newsletters are very interesting as well!

I however believe there is a lot better way to spend our time starting with sailing and racing IOMs. Let's fix problems that need fixing, not spend our time ferreting out issues and creating problems and then endlessly debating their unneeded solution.

Guess who started this thread?

Olivier I use silicone kit from the DIY store. The waterproof, no fungus, variety that is used in bathrooms. It fixes the lead in my boat very well to the hull/ finbox Unlike Graham B, I do not wrap it in deck cover material I assure you that it is quite difficult, but certainly not impossible, to r...

Many years ago, I was a measurer at a big boat championship.
At the prizegiving dinner, I was awarded the Wooden Spoon Award for stirring things up.

Maybe the IOM Class could make a similar trophy available.

"1) Measurement is a black and white affair - either you measure in or your boat is not legal. 2) Officials should not have the ability to bend the rules based upon a story told them by a skipper." Many years ago, I was random measuring participants at a full size dinghy world championship. There wa...

Rob I used (Futaba T3GR) 2.4Ghz equipment at the Marseille Worlds. So were many others. The organisation listed 2.4Ghz as a permitted frequency on the Notice Of Race. 21 out of the 76 sailors said that they used 2.4Ghz. My equipment was not checked at all and I have not heard that other competitors ...

The boat I bought also came with a Graupner Regatta winch. Like Mr Wahl, I should like to eliminatie the switch that is in the winch circuit. I always mount a very small switch on each batterypack. Once found out, could you let me know which wires to connect etc? Unlike Mr Wahl, I am electronically ...

This will be the first official IOM event in Holland. Only a few Dutch boats are ready, but we will have support from our German neighbours who have entered 8 boats. So far we have 12 entries. Pre bend rigs, storage

I am new to the IOM and have a question. Does one realy need a rigbox to store pre- bend rigs? Would like to hear from those of you with pre-bend rigs and no rigbox how you manage.
Thanks and regards

Allthough a relative newcomer to the class, I wish Lester and the Phighet class all the best. I can imagine that the class appeals to IOM owners, as these can use their existing rigs; it certainly does to me. It surprises me a lot that some people in the class get all defensive about this. In my opi...
