My sincere apologies to SUI for not posting the final approval of their membership. I did tell them that it was all done and they do have had all the official paperwork in hand for some time now.
Welcome to the IOM ICA. We look forward to seeing the SUI boats in many competitions.

Re: Rules interpretation
We think the paperwork is done and we are awaiting IRSA's stamp. There have been some delays but communication has picked up again so hopefully soon for the final answer.

Re: What batteries are people using?
Thanks for the update Dave. It looks like the weight varies a lot by capacity so that is an interesting thing to keep in mind.

Re: What batteries are people using?
HK shows a 2 cell 2300 mah LiFe at 165 gms assembled, wire and connector so that is right back in 5 cell Nimh range and about the same voltage on average. Maybe a better discharge profile and better shelf life/less voltage drop off charge.

Re: 2012 IOM ICA Annual General Meeting
On the heels of recent announcements it is obvious that the previous statements regarding elections being conducted at this years AGM are not correct. The position of Chairman is open for nominations. From my understanding this would be for a one year term to get the election process back on its reg...

Re: Data transmission from the boat
It is really very simple. Members of the IOM ICA recognize that certain radios are not compliant with the rules that are in place. At the same time we are trying to be a bit proactive and pointing out that all of the IRSA recognized International Classes have rules in place (according to what you se...

Re: Data transmission from the boat
We have recently sent the following to IRSA for their consideration and approval. We hope to have a response fairly soon so that this can be in effect for our major regattas this year. We do not anticipate making any substantial change to the wording so we are not looking for suggested changes, this...

Re: Data transmission from the boat
May be but all the other class rules (Marblehead, 10R, A) (at least as posted on the IRSA website) say
C.8 Remote Control Equipment
c.8.1 USE
Except for control unit positioning information, no radio transmissions from the boat shall be used.
Same problem we have from what I see.

Re: Data transmission from the boat
Hi Nigel, Robert has done a good bit of work to re-phrase the radio section of the rules to try to make it clearer what the intentions are; that we allow the control of two functions and that they are controlled by the skipper moving controls on the radio. I think the way he has done it is quite goo...

Class Rule Resolutions
I thought I would post a note here about the ICA AGM as well as the one that is already in the Class Management section. A reminder that any rule change proposals must come from an NCA. So if you have any ideas for rule changes, or any changes to the Constitution or Regulations, or any proposals for...

2012 IOM ICA Annual General Meeting
Although there is no requirement to give notice earlier than is defined in the Regulations it is best to let everyone know as soon as possible so that any preparation of resolutions, etc. can start as soon as it is practical to do so. The target that we established last year is to aim for somewhere ...

Re: Data transmission from the boat
This is my own personal take and not "the official" position. While we have quoted the Section C part of the rules, Section D says: D.2.4 REMOTE CONTROL EQUIPMENT (a) The following is permitted: (1) One or more receivers. (2) One rudder control unit. (3) One sheet control unit. (4) Battery cells ass...

Now that the countries have sent (or not sent) their owners lists in we turn into the home stretch for the AGM which is the voting phase. Well that didn't quite work out but the Agenda has been distributed to all of the NCAs now and will be linked off the ICA Home Page shortly. Stay tuned.

Re: Single Panel Molded Sails
Hi Don,
Based on his description I would say it is a stretch and not a shrink. If you pull it tight before applying the heat that may cause it to relax a little instead of shrink.
Just a guess.

Re: 2011 IOM ICA Annual General Meeting
This is a bit like talking to myself but here is another officially unofficial notice. September 11 is just one month away and that is the first barrier for submission of resolutions and nominations to be considered for the 2011 AGM. That is the trigger day for me to start organizing the agenda for ...

Re: Single Panel Molded Sails
There seems to be, in some comments, the implication that some sort of new rule/interpretation will be forced upon the owners without the opportunity to discuss or vote. That is simply not the case. Shortly after this thread started, it was stated several times that your opinion on the status of the...

Re: Single Panel Molded Sails
So a week after it is announced that there is an official request for an interpretation of the rules, as they are now written, discussion has stopped. "We" should still be talking about what "we" want to do about the rule. That "we" need to have an interpretation tells me that the rule is not as cle...

Any resolutions need to be in my hands by Se...
