OK, next question, Is your IOM (if you have one) registered already in LUX? If so I think you may ask the JAP NCA to let you sail 'temporarily' with your LUX sail number - you may not be eligible for some JAP events or if eligibe to compete, may not be eligible to win prizes etc (that's what I belie...

I might be able to help, one because I am a British national, officially resident in Spain, and 2 because I am VC Measurements which sort of includes the boat registration process. You would normally register your IOM in the country where you regularly sail, which is 'normally' where you live and wh...

One option that I think needs a second look is the possibility of allowing skippers not on the water to be allowed as witnesses. All too often you will have numerous witnesses that saw an incident perfectly clear, but cannot get involved because they are not "on the water". They are, however racing...

Something else I have noticed is that umpires are very reluctant to react to a call for room or even a proper 'protest' say from a leeward boat who feels that the windward boat isn't giving him enough room -(define room - depends on the wind and water conditions etc..---). In this case the umpire ne...

I'll assume your hull core material is balsa I think Paul says it's Lime (Tilia specias) which is very unusual but possible. It isn't anywhere as near as soft as balsa..but never having used it myself I don't know how resistant it would be to the bump and barge of an IOM fleet race. In any case, as...

Can I ask a silly question. Why do you glass the wood outside? Is it for added resistance to damage? What wood are we talking about, balsa, cedar? I have built a number of wooden hulls (Cedar and or Obechi) and they always come out lighter and just as stong and almost as resistent with 2 good coats ...

It is not unusual in some parts to use this type of foam core as a male mould from which to take a hull. It's a bit like how they hand make surf boards but you will remove the foam 'core' after moulding the hull outside it (opposite to a normal mould). By preparing the hull carefully, (normally remo...

Or e.g. for a race committee anywhere in the world to verify that a certification mark on a sail was actually placed there by a genuine official measurer. How could this be achieved? May a measurer from Brobdignag (BRO) certify a boat registered in Lilliput (LIL), providing that this measurer is "appointed or recognised" by Lilliput's NCA? Basically, NO, the measurer would not be following the rules. I think we need to clarify a couple of points here. First, if you intend to sa...

Generally advertising isn't a problem on our sails or boats - they are Category C as far as IOM Class Rules and ISAF are concerned and although your MNA may have some rules about it, the restrictions are minimum. But your blackouts aren't advertising are they. That said, I don't think your 'blackout...
