Re: 2010 AGM Meeting Minutes

Barry: I was wondering--do we have from each NCA the actual total of raw votes cast? I couldn't find it (might have not looked in the right place). But I think knowing the number of actual member votes and where they came from could be very helpful.

Not sure why the attitude here. These are well intentioned questions on an important issue. They really do deserve an answer.

Re: IOMICA Fees

To follow up on how reducing the number of entrants can lower costs consider the following--if you have less entries, you have fewer fleets which means more racing in a shorter time. A shorter event is a less expensive event. And Alfonso.. its so infrequent that we ever hear anything from you or the...

Re: IOMICA Fees

Now I'm really unclear what is going on here. Even though there has been no public call for possible hosts for the next IOMICA Worlds or Euro's, now we hear that two countries are interested in the Euro's and one is interested in the Worlds but the head of IOMICA Events "won't tell".....And no respo...

Re: IOMICA Fees

This has been a little hard to follow and I'm not sure what is exactly the point, but from my years on the IOMICA Executive, I can assure anyone that cares that the entry fees collected for an IOM World Championship don't even come close to covering the costs of the event. A good rule of thumb is th...

Re: IOM European Championships 2010 => FRA Pierrelatte

First, I would like to say "thank you" to the staff and organizers of the European Championship in France. Although I didn't attend I have heard nothing but positive feedback from the event. I know how hard these big races are to pull off and how much time and effort is required. Thanks again all. N...

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting

"July 18, 2009 6:15 pm. Seems like that would be advance notice." Nope. A non-official post from over a year ago and nothing on the forum since? The procedure in the past was to officially call for nominations for officers in the initial AGM notice. But none of this matters since there is no provisi...

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting

A few simple points---the current IOMICA Executive has made a major point that it believes in strictly following the class rules as written. Yet, clearly what is being done regarding off year elections does not follow the class rules. Second, IOMICA has a website and forum that used to be a major so...

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting

Not sure how this works. If the rules say that officers are elected every two years, how can you can have an election now? Regardless, it might have been nice if someone had posted that there would be an election this year and called for nominations. Maybe if that fact had been known others might ha...

Having been there before, please don't go down the road of "Isn't specta really a thermoplastic" or "Isn't spectra really fiberglass". The IOM class rules were meant to promote inexpensive construction methods and basically limits hulls to be made from fiberglass and/or wood. (Thermoplastic was put ...

Re: Rule F.5.3 FITTINGS - OPTIONAL

I have looked at the documents suggested and only found information on rule interpretations and how to submit them. I couldn't find anything regarding an "IOM ICA TSC official view" and how it is binding on the class. Could you please reference the applicable rules?

New Technical Documents/Forum Postings

It seems that there are again some new documents posted on the IOMICA home page and not mentioned on the forum. I know that many of us go directly to the forum page and not the homepage to check for updates. It would be very helpful if any updates on the homepage are at least mentioned on the forum....

Re: IOM Events page

I think the idea of an IOM events page is great. A suggestion--a comprehensive general list of all events throughout the world might be a little long and not all that useful. Perhaps the list should be for major events for which out of country competitors are welcome. For example, here in the US, ou...

Re: Uniform date for the AGM

I have always taken the position that without strong support from at least one NCA for changes in the IOM class rules, it is not appropriate for the IOMICA Executive to act on its own accord except in the case of an emergency. What is surprising is that about a year ago, when I put forth that positi...

Re: Uniform date for the AGM

I believe the question asked was whether or not there is a plan to have the IOMICA AGM held at a regular time each year. From the nature of the reply ("you will informed as everybody else, at least 8 weeks before the AGM"), I take it that the answer is therefore "NO".

Re: Forum Changes?

Sorry it took so long to respond, but if we are updating the forum a few thoughts--I think its time to end the various national sections on the board. They are basically not used at all anymore. In their place, perhaps IOMICA could offer to host the IOM class discussion boards for various NCAs and/o...

New Championship Regulations?

It seems that a revised set of Class Championship Regulations has now been published on the home page. Also, would it be possible to see a "red lined" version of the new regulat...

Also problematic (and important) is trying to determine which documents to rely on. For example, many of the IOMICA election procedures are contained in a "draft" document that was never voted on and adopted by the membership. Other documents that have been cited in the past (like some of the "resol...

Given some of the recent issues we have been confronted with regarding voting, I would think that "fixing" how we vote should be a very high priority. Now that the dust has cleared, I think it is appropriate that we re-visit the issue of class voting procedures. It would seem pretty clear that we need uniform rules that apply to all NCAs.
