It is best to start by asking your national Class Association first before you ask on the forum. They should be the first to try to answer the question.

Thanks.

I can't be absolutely sure, but I recall something about carbon rudder posts are ok if they're not fixed top and bottom to the hull (as in skiff type hulls that have the rudder link outside the hull not internal) since they don't affect the strength or structural stability of the hull. I think this ...

I think that's about what we do in our weekly club races anyway -possibly to avoid the male hormone thing. It doesn't mean we have more partners coming however, but it does mean newcomers aren't put off quite so much.

triple digit sail numbers in the US Champs

Can our colleagues in the US please explain the use of triple digit sail numbers like 214, 275, 183 and the highly creative 792 when the 2-digit counterparts (niether 21 nor 14, 75, 83, 92 etc) weren't sailing? I can only guess it was to seperate numbers by placing a digit AFTER instead of 'before' ...

Although it confused me too, do you really think it was deliberate?? I doubt it. We should assume it was a simple (but definitely avoidable) mistake, so no need to accuse people of ......bla, bla, bla. Get my point?

I tend to agree with you Ralph, 1, 2 or 3 numbers, the only problem is the underlying fact that on smaller sails (ie. No3 jib) there may not be room if the current restrictions on size/spacing are kept. I also like the idea of adding a large letter (A,B,C etc) above the number. This has at least 26 ...

On the question of moving ballast - we are trying to devise a way to ensure that in the upcoming Europeans 2004, ballast doesn't accidentally (or deliberately heaven forbid) move about during the event. We have an old and very small supply of self destructing (if moved) stickers as used by dinghy sa...
