Pre bend rigs, storage

Post by wim bakker » 11 Nov 2006, 08:26

I am new to the IOM and have a question. Does one realy need a rigbox to store pre- bend rigs? Would like to hear from those of you with pre-bend rigs and no rigbox how you manage.
Thanks and regards

Normally I just loosen up the kicking strap and the cunningham. This relieves the strain on the mainsail.

I´ve been doing this for years with no damage to the sails.

Hiya - do the same as Fernando after each sailing.

Like yourself I don't have a sailbox and till now I store the sails flat in a dry area. It is important to rince the sails after each race and let them dry fully before storing them. for now I keep them in a sailbag (heavy plastic) but once I receive my new sailbag I'll be keeping them in it (more padded and more ridgid.

I used to hang them from a nail in the wall but can't do it anymore but it's a nice way to keep the sails wrinkle free.

hope this helps...
