Gyula,How did you like using lime wood( is that the same as basswood)? I like the color difference. I will use it and red cedar on my next hull. What type of glue are you using? Alot of questions , I know!

Its 1:30 in the morning and I think I have hade enough beer! Im talking to people who are not even there!

I think lime is the same as basswood (maybe an east-europen version ). For gluing I used a poliurethanic one, called Bison .
As it hardens, it also expands so it fills the gaps in the planking.

Does anyone have the full set of Triple Crown plans that they have finished with and would be willing to sent to me?

I am ready to start construction and I have the download version.

John, I E-mailed Robert Hobbs publicity-officer@mya-uk.org.uk and was told how much money to send( I sent cash) and where to send it. It only took a couple of weeks to get the plans from the UK to the US. I sent for option 2. The plans have more detail and information than the down- loadable ones, but the plans dont show the proper distance from the center of the mast to the front of the keel( the plans show 17mm and it should be 20mm). The web site has a drawing with the revised 20mm measurment and it says,"Important change".

Andreas, really nice boat! I have used those sites alot for help in building my Triple Crown.

Just thought I'd post an update.

Although the club I race in isn't the most competitive, we usually have some really close racing. However last sunday when the windstrength was borderline for the no. 1 rig. My Triple Crown won, not just one race, or two, but every single race that day!

Although there was another Triple Crown on the water, they had problems with the balance of their yacht, but mine was sweet

I don't know what it is about my boat, but she really flies, even when the bow is well down in the water she just goes straight and remains controlable while others were broaching behind me

Must say you have done a really good job on your TC.

Eeek, never really thought about traveling....I've still got to get her certified and make sure she's class legal....As far as I'm aware she's all legal and above board, and I have a plan to get her measured...so you never know

Where and when is it? and even though she's coated in GRP does she still qualify? ....are there any other requirements??

On the 13th May there is a TC and wooden hulls day at Burghfield, so you qualify for both so charge up those them batteries.
Should see you there if the missus lets me out to play (will have to behave myself) , and no I will only be spectating.

How did you taper the planks (and calculate the correct taper profile), and what thickness planking did you use?

What weight fiberglass cloth?

How did things work out weight-wise?

I have seen the idea on a german site Woodenstars
Calculating was the easy part. I measured the greatest section, and I divided it by the width of the planks and I got the number of the planks. Than I measured the other sections, and I dvided them by the number of the planks so I got the width of the planks at each section.
I gripped each plank in this "wice" and I planed them

The bolts are placed at the same distance as the sections and drived in to the desired plank width

I used one layer of 50 gr cloth inside and outside too.
The hull with all the fittings, but no electronics weights 680 gramms.

Excellent work, you must be really proud of her (I would be) Great series of photos btw, I wish I'd documented mine as well, but I was just too impatient to get her on the water!!
