Bow bumper

Post by Gyula » 01 May 2006, 09:12

For my new boat I made a silicone bow bumper. Could you tell me what kind of glue should I use to fix it on the bow? I tried a few types, even double faced tape, but doesen't sticks to anything. My previous boats had simple rubber bumpers, and I had no problems with gluing them.

Hi Gyula

Silicone sealant, preferably the kind that smells very strongly of vinegar. Sold as 'bath sealant' or 'shower sealant' or even 'fishtank adhesive', etc.

Hi Gyula

The major problem with using silicone sealant as glue is that it does not last very well. I have to peel off and re-attach my bumper every year or so... (or is that just because I bump into so many boats and marks?!?)
