ARYA Nationals
Hi All,
The ARYA nationals were held over the past 4 days. The second biggest IOM fleet assembled 65 boats of varying designs. The wind ranged from light A rig through too top end B rig. The eventual winner was Craig Smith again sailing his obsession from Paul Jones sailing his Cockatoo 2. Graham Bantock’s ex worlds Topiko was sailed into 3rd place by Denis Mcloughlin. Surprise of the regatta was Greame Bird sailing the prototype Punk Built and designed by Brad Gibson, with Mike Eldred fin and BG sails, finishing 4th. Graham only droped to B fleet in the penultimate race. "Not bad for an ex dinghy sailor that took up radio sailing 8 months ago"
Other boats to shine were the V6, Trinity and Disco sailed by Rob Guyatt who won 2 A heat races and got a 2nd in another being piped on the line. All in all a wonderful regatta well organized and PRO with his usual efficency by Bill Clancy.
