2005 World Championships (unofficial) results compilation

Post by cfwahl » 26 Sep 2005, 14:13

Here's an UNOFFICIAL compilation of the "results" and "competitors" information from the official 2005 IOM World Championships web site, including placings, all scores, and designs sailed. While I've provided a PDF for ease of viewing, the original is an Excel spreadsheet, so if anyone has more data, bring it on! I had to put it on the USA IOM NCA forum, since attachments aren't allowed here.

Note that for boat designs, no particular one seemed to dominate the top places. Disco and Cockatoo were the most popular in the field, accounting for about 40% of the total entries between them. Results-wise, the Cockatoo skippers seemed to fare a bit better than the Disco crowd. But neither design broke the top five. I think this is good news for the class, no hegemony here!

I think the Gibsons might have exchanged positions...

Charles,
Have a quick look at third position. I think you will find it is Paul Jones sailing a Cockatoo II.

ACK! Sorry about the errors in the spreadsheet. This comes of pasting stuff scarfed from the original PDFs into a text editor, turning information into a CSV (comma-delimited) file, dumping into Excel, and sorting by name. And not paying enough attention!

I deleted the attachment on the USA NCA site for now, to limit the spread of disinformation. I'll fix the errors and repost the spreadsheet tonight or tomorrow morning.

Sorry to anyone offended,
Charles Wahl

Okay, here's a second try at the results, including designs for each skipper. I think that I have the Joneses and Gibsons in correct positions now.

If anyone has more data, I'll be happy to update it.
