Another excellent and highly competitive day of sailing in Barbados.

What can we say about Graham Bantock nothing other than class is class.

We have a real fight taking place for the second, third, fourth and fifth positions, with the Croatians, English, Barbadians, Americans, Canadians, Brazilians and Italians fighting it out tooth and nail.

We have just brought the curtain down on a most exciting and fabulous weekend of IOM sailing in THE MOUNT GAY / BOATYARD IOM REGATTA 2008.

We conducted two separate regattas over four days with the first two days being Wednesday and Thursday being sailed at a pond location at the end of that event we saw Graham Bantock walking away with the top prize, in runner up position was his fellow Englishman Ken Binks and in third a Barbadian in Peter Allen.

We then had our Lay Day on this day many of the sailors were treated to a coastal cruise on HEATWAVE complete with lunch and free drinks and snorkeling with the turtles, this was a cruise very kindly donated to all participants by THE BOATYARD AND HEATWAVE CRUISES, it was very much liked by all those that attended.

The second part of this event was sailed off in the beautiful coast line in Bay Street just offshore of the same BOATYARD, we were extremely lucky to have been given the use of a very large power catamaran for the racing on Saturday and Sunday, once again we saw Graham Bantock displaying his talent and his supreme skills by winning this event hands down, in second place here was the Barbadian sailor Peter Allen and in third place was another Englishman in Ken Binks who quickly adjusted to the conditions of open ocean sailing to maintain a very good standard of sailing.

The overall of the two regattas according to the points summary of the two regattas, out there supreme in first place was Graham Bantock in Second was Ken Binks and in third was Peter Alllen, our congrats to all the winners, but our sincere thanks to all those who took the time out to attend this event.

We combined with THE BOATYARD and MOUNT GAY to provide prizes from first place right thru to fifth place with a very special prize awarded to Jeff Weiss for his determination and his continuous support over each and everyone of our events over the last five years.

We held the prize giving at the Boatyard right after the racing on Sunday with plenty of both prizes and MOUNT GAY around it was a fantastic event being closed off by a fitting prize giving event where many of those that made the effort to attend were rewarded with a prize of some type.

I would like to thank Shane Atwell for his loyal and unswerving support when we needed it most as they were times that putting an effort such as this together calls for every ounce of energy and willingness to get the job done and in Shane we found such a partner, I need also to express our extreme tanks to the owners and management of LITTLE GOOD HARBOUR HOTEL for their fantastic support in the providing of four rooms for use by the sailors to this event, the reports from those who stayed there were full of praise for this hotel, they have also already confirmed that they are involved and will do for next year as they have done for this year, to this end we have already started discussions with the management of LITTLE GOOD HARBOUR with respect of putting on another day at the venue just outside of their hotel.

More on that later, we intend to meet within the next to weeks to debrief and to set the date for next years event and to start the planning for a monster of regatta for 2009.

In closing I would like to express my thanks to all those who took the time out to attend our regatta and to say please spread the news about our event and help grow this event to a world class event, thank you all.
