Re: 2014 AGM Discussion

Hi Barry, Sounds a sensible plan. Are there any topics to discuss yet? I'm aware of the emergency rule changes which will probably be approved by the vast majority.
Regards
Henry

Re: Help with HMS 2007

I'd certainly challenge that! If I was a competitor, a Race Officer, or a Jury member, I'd regard a lottery as the option of last resort rather than the first choice![/quote] Hi Lester, Ok to be more serious. I don't see that the previous race necessarily has anything to do with the current one for ...

Re: Help with HMS 2007

Hi Lester,
I guess some form of tie breaking is about the only option.
A different jury might have reached a different conclusion about the system used at St Cyr.
Faced with an unfamiliar situation who knows what juries will do
I doubt that anyone would challenge drawing from a hat but then.....!

Re: Help with HMS 2007

Perhaps I can shed some more light on HMS history. There can be little doubt that HMS together with appropriate sailing instructions is the best sysem yet devised for managing many radio controlled yachts. There are however situations that pose challenges especially to those who do not use it regula...

Sorry Val, but I fail to see any significant difference between primary/secondary reinforcement and tabling. Especially so since they are all now cover by section G6 Sail Reinforcement. Don't get me wrong I don't want to ban tabling nor to see those with it protested, I just want things to be clear....

What everybody sems to have missed is the fact that the 2002 class rules specifically allowed primary and secondary reinforcement AND tabling. It then went on to permit tabling at the luffs to form pockets. When the rule was re-written in 2003 tabling as such was missed out leaving just the pocket p...

To avoid having to find words that define a receiver surely the simple thing is to remove the restriction of having only one.

When I first stumbled upon the DX6 & 7 problem I wondered why there was a limitation of one receiver but never followed it up. I've since looked back at the earlier rules and find that it was not there in the 2002 rules. The Introduction to the rules (2002, 3, 7) points out that Parts II and III are...

Andy has it right. I was using the standard BMF 2007 v2 and answering Q17. I still don't 'know' if the DX6 is legal so I made a note to the effect that it might not be but that the IOMICA VC Technical thought that it was. I have also alerted the Registrar (Certification Authority) and National and I...

OK guys I am sorry I've stirred things up. Coming from an engineering background I like things to be clear. Acting as a UK Official Measurer I like to know where I stand. Both DX6 and DX7 transmit and receive simultaneously on two frequencies. The bit in the boat ( whatever you call it) sorts out wh...

Since raising the issue I have not looked since Andy did the first reply. Must have misunderstood how 'notification' works. So we have a series of opinions about what is 'a receiver'. Lester has the right approach but it seems to me that this is a clear case where the Excecutive should take the init...

Spektrum DX6 & 7

When the class rules were originally written we all knew what a receiver was. Spektrum DX6 & 7 use two receivers so how do they fit with class rules permitting only one?
Just to complicate the isue, DX6 has its two receivers in a single case while the DX7 has separate cases.

Another scoring program

Anyone interested in scoring HMS might find the following link of interest.
www.leevalleymyc.org.uk
On the downloads page is a file which when unzipped gives an Excel 97 workbook that is specifically designed to score HMS with the minimum of input.
A Word file of instructions is included.
