In Lesters words: I think we are both agreed that the Spektrum AR7000 is a "dual receiver" comprising "a master receiver" and "a slave receiver" (I quote their own words). Great technological solution, by the way, to the problem of ensuring glitch-free reception. We are also agreed that the IOM Clas...

Actually to cover all bases we need to approach our various NCA's in order to get emergency rule changes done, before the IOM worlds in France. Rule C.5.3 AND Rule D.2.4 Quite ironic really as the frequency range is on the 2.4Ghz band......... A quick consensus from our technical rep to all th...

Right I have made a decision, the DX6/ 7 IS LEGAL. Sorted. Without the "slave receiver" the "Master receiver" would be unable to work . Without the "master receiver" the "slave receiver" would be unable to work. Am I correct in saying this? Well if I am, those two little dna molecules are reliant on...

Not wishing to be pedantic, but the direction that this discussion is headed shall not do the class any good. If we want clarification on a particular point do not ask the persons who write the laws, go to those who design and maintain the equipment they are the only persons who will be able to give...

Why all this to and fro? :D . Blame technology I say. What it boils down to is the fact that the Spektrum manufacturers have added the hype "look, we have you given you two receivers for the price of one" Now let us all go outside and remove the alternators or generators from our cars as we al...

I would like to find out if there is going to be a day by day "blog" of the results also if there shall be any webcams covering the sailing area. :? Why not just state that "the jib mounting points to be in a position no lower than a line taken horizontally between port and starboard gunwale and to be positioned on the centerline of the hull", that should then restrict the options of where the jib take off point is and make it is easier to re...

I go onmy knee and apoligise to any I may have offended with my previous posting. I have been doing some trawling and research into Texalium and glassfibre properties and now realise that there is GF out there which has a higher spec than the Texalium. IMHO Texalium is used merely as an accessory (l...

Class rules?

It is /was supposed to be a IOM class whereby the masses could all own a (volkswagen) read IOM. What has happened since the conception of the class, oh let us form a committee to look after the interests of the class, not enough positions, let us form a sub committee. What is next a sub sub committe...

Thanks for that Muzza, it makes a sense now. I for one sincerely hope that this class does not go the way of multiple keels/leads etc. For a class that was supposed to encourage the aspiring newbies and all who wanted to sail an inexpensive but competitive yacht the cracks are beginning to show unfo...

WC Meeting

Evening all
I am still not sure if this "rule" if I understand it correctly, will allow the use of what is it 3 keels with the lead in slightly different positions (to allow for different sailing conditions).
Is it in the pipeline to being permissible in the near future.

As Lester states: But this is the best part: you can change fin, rudder, and/or bulb between heats. You will now need different fins, different weight bulbs, and maybe different rudders, to fit and refit. Narrow chord low area appendages for light airs with 2.2 kg keel weight, up to high area broad ...

To umpire or not to umpire?

A lot of valid points are being raised in this topic. IMHO an umpire should be there call any infringement which occurs as well as to acknowledge any penalties being done. As soon as the "infringer" is about to do his penalty he should inform an umpire of his intention to do a penalty which the umpi...

Hull length + draft

:? Having read thru the Class rules 2003 v.2 The hull length is stated as 1000mm, is this the overall length of the hull from bow to stern? Sail (IL)Legality

:) Like the cool custom job on your sails. I do not see that they would be illegal, having read and reread the rules I cannot see anywhere that it states SAILS may not be multicoloured. I normally sail with a sail that is slightly customised (with my personal logo, not advertising) and a brightly co...

If what Nigel says "keep membership restricted to active sailors" does this then exclude the people who are wanting to explore the joys of R/C Sailing. Specifications

I agree with Nick, whilst a design is on the "drawing board" respect the designer and his need for secrecy. As soon as the item is available for sale everybody and his Aunty are going to want to know what are spec's. When a motor car manufacturer releases a new model do the competition just ignore i...
