Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Dear all, looking at all the comments that are trying to fix HMS it is obvious to me that it is broken. I really like the idea of SHRC but would split into GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE a little later in the event, if it is a 6 day event, split after 4 or 5 days. This is a minor point though and i would urge...

The lake is about a 30 minute drive from Liverpool John Lennon airport and about a 60 minute drive from Manchester airport. When we get a little nearer to the event we will publish a list of places to stay. The UK 2010 IOM Nationals will be held at the lake over three days (Sat,Sun,Mon). I am sure t...

I wave my flag and give up. Let us carry on relying on the goodwill of people to volunteer to do measurement that should of been done at home and when this goodwill ends we will pay £20,000 entry fees. On my reckoning i would get to the 10r Euros about mid March if they decide to do a full pre-race...

The whole idea about skippers relying on the pre-race measurement to ensure there boat measures does not sit well with me, relying on 4-8 people giving there own time to do something that should of been done by the skipper. These measurers are not then free to help with the running of the race as wh...

Hi Roy, each measurement probably takes about 10 minutes.I suppose the race committee or an umpire could do this,i have never been to a championship where there has never been hold ups in the racing when a few random checks could be done or between races when the the boat to be measured is not racin...

The mid event random measurement works brilliantly. Too many boats are turning up at Championships and even though they have a certificate they are still found to be out of rating. It took Robert and his helpers a whole day plus in Croatia and his report makes for interesting reading, what percentag...

I really think the way to stamp out the unsportsmanship style of sailing that has crept into the sport and is much the topic of conversation at the de-brief is to adopt the 720 degree turn. How many times have we got to witness skippers barging around the windward mark as they did in Marseille and m...

I agree strongly about skippers taking responsibity for a wrong doing, immidiately calling themselves for a penalty and then doing a 360, unfortunately far too many wait until they are called for a penalty by an umpire, hoping it went unobserved. The system used a while ago was very good, the umpire...

Obviously a few things need to be addressed, they need to be changed as soon as possible as the entries for major Championships are struggling with more skippers opting to sail in alternative events. We need to get back to basics, i have listed a few ideas. 1. start the event at 10am on a Sunday and...
