Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Hi John, Just for clarification. Any racing scoring system used on RC events races under RRS shall comply with the RRS and there is no need for IRSA approval. This was clearly said to us by IRSA chairman in answer to my mail back in April saying: „Because IOMICA is an independent ICA, it is free to ...

Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Hi John
Our proposal is to use SHRS on World and Europeans championship as these are IOMICA events administered by the IOMICA Class Championship Rules while we cannot and do not want to deal with any other racing system that may be used on national and lower level.

Re: Simple Heat Racing System
George, to answer your questions: 1. As scoring is the same for each heat you have overall results after each race in preliminary round. Therefore you can have results even with preliminary round only. Of course, it is always expected that you will do at least one race in for example two days of fin...

Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Hi Achile, You made great short summary. Just a note that number of race in qualifying and final round can be decided either by the number of racing days or exact number of races. In Croatia we have mostly 2 days events where we have by our national rule max. of 18 races in two days with no more tha...

Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Gordon, for a competitor who finish 17th after qualifying races, events not stops there. He continue in silver heat racing among boats of similar ability and on the end it may be more challenging to win silver fleet rather to trying to move up one or two places. I can tell this from my personal expi...

Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Olivier, please note that you can not compare any standings at the half of championship using HMS and SHRS as these are two different scoring systems and accumlating points for racing in B or C fleet by HMS will never happen in SHRS. The number of qualifying races scheduled by SHRS for first 3 days ...

Bruce, I saw that you took out two NZL entries in Stage 2 from my original document. It seems to me that they should be there. They have 3 places allocated in Stage 1, what is giving them 7 more places in Stage 2 allocated from the results from Marseille. They had 5 competitors in Marseille, so ther...

I agree with Val, with few more points on the mid-event measurement from the Judge's point of view. According to the RRS 78.3 when an equipment inspector or a measurer decide that a boat does not comply with the class rules he shall report the matterin writing to the race committee. Race committee s...

We are missing one very important point on umpiring here. With 360 penalty umpire can impose as much as needed additional 360 penalties if: - boat gain an advantage despite the rule infringement - boat fails to do penalty turn on time or properly - competitor brake rule 2 On the end there is possibi...

Bruce, I really don't know where you found that CRO has no NCA when we were among the first IOMICA members, represented in World Council since 2003. We were organizing IOM Europeans last year, and IOM Worlds 2001 where first initial meeting to constitute IOMICA was held. Regarding the Allocation of ...

Lester, I completely agree with you but unfortunately the 360-720 system has been applied on several events and the number of penalties taken by the competitors did not increase. I am saying this from real experience and umpires' point of view looking the whole event. Brad, on the Marblehead Worlds ...

I am sorry for a longer post, but there are several topics raised in discussion that needs some more explanation. Yes, 360 – 720 system looks very well in theory, but what is happening in practice is that we are loosing too much time on one incident. Take for example simple port – starboard inci...

Graham, I would add to the top of your list two very imoprtant points already proposed here 1. Control area as a raised platform at least 2 meters above the water level 2. Racing system which does not have any pressure on promotion or relegation Third would be something that should be normally expet...

I don't think that reducing the number of entries will reduce the organizing costs in the same percentage. I also agree that and event like European or World Championship needs 7 days and if you want to think about sponsorship then it is probably not easy to sell to the sponsor an event with limited...
