simonc94 wrote:Where do I find the allocation of places per NCA for Stage1?
Hello, Simon.
Interesting, it was here , but now its gone. I remember that RSA had 2 guaranteed in Stage 1, and as the list below shows, close to the top for additional spots.
Anyone care to comment why it's gone?

JPN does not have a NCA, which explains why they were not included in the allocations. The ESC has received 3 applications for their guest spots which will be awarded during Stage 1. Any skipper not represented by a NCA should feel free to forward an official application directly to the ESC. Thanks...

Hello Steve, Could you explain your calculation? First off, I would like to edit to be sure everyone knows I am not on the ESC, and these are simply my own findings and should not be taken as "official". I do believe they are accurate though. Following IOM CCR's: 8.6(i) =1 place, 8.6(ii) =40 places...

2007 Worlds Allocation of places

Hi, all. For any of you interested in your NCA's chances of getting additional spots in Stage 1, I looked over the allocation of places http://www.ycpr.net/actualites/index.php this morning and made a list of priority for any spots that may be left available after the initial part of Stage 1, where ...

My opinion.... they're simly easier to manufacture, and there's not enough difference in performance between the types to mess with the hassle. if one was absolutely better than the other, the slower ones would become obsolete, and that's not happening. There are many good fins of various shapes and...

Marseille accomodations - Worlds 2007

Is there any preliminary information for accomodations in the general sailing area? I have inquired about some villas in the surrounding areas, and I have been advised to book early for that time period due to a large rugby competition being held during the same time as our regatta. Any advance noti...

Even with 6, there is only one "preliminary" seeding race. In race 2, the promotion/relegation is slightly different to sort the proper numbers between heats, not any different than when the scoring committee needs to rearrange due to dropped out skippers.

USA has been promoting 6 when the fleets are on the larger side for over 2 years, with 100% positive comments. The only "complaint" was that everyone got to sail more races... It takes 2 races to sort out the heat numbers properly, but it's easy to follow and seems to be as fair as any other ...

Exec Update December 2006 World Council The likelihood is that some of the resolutions will be rejected. Then why are we wasting time with an ICA if our hard work simply gets rejected? I thought the purpose of an ICA was to have control of our class and do what the majority felt was right. ISAF sho...

With a larger number of seeding races only race 1 is special and race 2 is already 'normal'. Anders My concern would be burning 2 extra heats at the very beginning of the week. That "could" be the deciding factor of a full race in the end. On that note, has anyone ever thought of staggering the see...

I agree with Lester. Race 1: 15, 15, 15, 15 ,16 Then in race 2 you'll move 5 up, and 6 down to have everything sorted for race 3 to be 14-14-14-14-20 . I would not be too worried about one seeding race with 16 and the rest 15. It is what it is, and we all understand that it will not be perfect. It w...

A boat that started in E, wins every race up to A, and loses a rudder servo just before the finish line, and cannot finish has beaten every boat up to the top 20. No way should he be "demoted" past that position. He HAS finished the race, 4 out of 5 times, in fact. It would be VERY wrong to score hi...

I just read through the latest news pages. A big THANKS is in order for all involved in getting our vote through it's course. Off topic, not IOM related, enjoy some great music

One of my favorite artists, Makana has a new recording being released soon. I'll post here because many sailors love guitar based music. Makana is not well known, plays hawaiian slack key guitar, but falls under the "world" genre. I'm sure you'll enjoy.....

USA saw no problems whatsoever as far as the IOMICA relationship was concerned. Our major problem lies between the IOM Class Secretary owners list, and the AMYA IOM owners list. As a skipper in the USA, I would heavlily frown upon a new class. Not because the boat may hurt the IOM (and I'm not sure that it would), but simply because our radio sailing here is already diluted with far too many classes. This may or may not be a problem in your country, and a new class may help...

No, my idea is still measuring hull draft, I'm just not sure that all current boats will pass a 60mm check when measured from bow and stern (some show a waterline a bit below). I agree, you can't just measure 420. We still need to measure 420 as max, but we may need to adjust the 60 rule to allow cu...

I like this discussion, because the topic has merit. Also, we have 2 years to figure it out since our agenda is set for this cycle. I think a draft jig touching stem and stern with a set number (could be 60mm) for draft and then overall 420mm will work. It will likely show some current boats ...

Adding lower spreaders will absolutely improve the performance of any IOM mast. This may "level" the competition. Because control of the mast would become easier, the guys that have mastered the use of "noodle like" spars would have less advantage over those that can't control a very soft, bendy mas...

Keep it simple: unrestricted.... unless of course one could come up with a good reason not be. As long as it only keeps the topper from slacking and catching on the spreader, it's good.

The level of competition at a Euro's is pretty much the same as it has been at the Worlds (that I have attended). purley a asthetic issue. Cheers Greg W It does help keep the sheets from getting tangled also.
