Finally, a little sanity Hi Charles Sanity, like common sense, lies entirely in the eye of the beholder (smile). I'd propose that "impurities" in materials not exceeding, say, 0.05% of total mass should be ignored But not after you've had a quick think about how an owner might know this to be the c...

A solution [used] by the judges was to hail 'umpire protest XX' and then wait for the boat to acknowledge(otp). If nothing happened a penalty would be called (ttp). Hi Anders Excellent solution! Hi Roy I think I am beginning to see why you find this whole topic so confusing. The "texalium" issue was never voted on because the whole problem started with a rule "interpretation" by our technical committee. Incorrect on two counts. Cannot find any indication where the WC voted on the rule change before approval by RSD That's because the WC has only just voted, in Mooloolaba, on the "emergency" rule change. Re: Solutions to rejected Class rule changes

Re the texalium. It looks like we have a rule amendment that has RSD approval but does not appear to ever been documented or posted as a normal or emergency amendment. Seems to me we have the cart before the horse. The rule change was, of course, promulgated in accordance with IOMICA Regulations (w...

I guess what could be better clarified is whether or not the permitted maximum variation of 5 mm applies during an event. I don't think the rule regulates the position of the lower measurement band across the three rigs. 1X can be anything you like between 60 and 100; so can 2X, and so can 3X. For example, No.1 can be at 95, No.2 at 80, and No.3 at 60 if you want. What the rule regulates is, having stepped No.1 at, say...

Re: WC meeting

Is this a proposal or is it now in force? It is a result of the vote by the World Council. Where an "emergency" rule change is not accepted by the World Council, like this one, my understanding is that it is immediately deleted from the rule book as though it had never happened. This is probably an...

Adding old E4.7 to the Sailing Instructions

IOM owners recently voted against restrictions on ballast movement between heats. It is more or less certain that this negative vote was not a vote against the proposed rule as such.
