Hi all,

We now have ca 5 days left for NCAs to submit their owner lists.

So far we've only got lists from GBR and ARG, all others have zero voting strength!

If you want your votes to count at the AGM, please make sure that your NCA submits an owner list within the next 5 days!

Voting Strength for 2007 AGM

Hi All, Same procedure as last year: NCA's submit a list of registered and certificated owners to IOMICA (secretary@iomclass.org) before September 20th 2007. The deadline is now about one moth away, so this is an early reminder! If you are an NCA representative, start getting your lists together ! I...

Hi Olivier, you may be right! But from a skippers point of view I would argue that a requirement to insert a "2" or "3" in front of my usual sail number is as much work or more than simply re-doing all the numbers to something else like "35". Why ? Because I've left space in front of my normal numbe...

A weekend day would mean Sunday 14th (Saturday 13th is opening, Saturday 20th is price-giving), or possibly Friday 19th. I will check wha...

there is nothing in the class rule that talks about an added 2 or 3 in front of the number, just a "1". So an argument could also be made that the first person gets allocated "79" the second "179" and the third should be allocated a number completely separate from these numbers. for example "35" the...

Thanks Olivier, fast work. 63 entries in stage 1 leaves 13 for stage 2 and later (76 boats in total 76-63=13). so any country in the top 13 on the stage-2 list should be OK. From a FIN perspective this will get real close! We are on place 16. on the stage-2 list, but there are at least three countri...

The allocation of places is explained in this document: http://www.ycpr.net/datas/docs/11716473_iom%20wc%20allocations%20fra%20gbr%20.pdf My understanding is that all entries should be sent in before the initial closing date, so it is no longer possible to send in more entries. As there was no POR c...

How many entries to Marseille did your country send ??

Hi all, Just very informally it would be nice to know approximately how many extra places there are for Marseille in stage two allocations. I know FIN sent in three entries, so we are using our two spots and hoping for one more. Sören and Torvald seemed to indicate that they are the only ones from ...

Hi All, I still don't see how starting from a seeding race with the configuratio 15-15-15-15-16 the races will proceed. the logical and fair division for race 2 would be identical: 15-15-15-15-16, but there is no provision in the current HMS for moving up/down a variable amount of boats - so I don't...

I guess it's a question of where to put the complexity.

The current system distributes it among race 1 and 2 for wich special rules apply.

With a larger number of seeding races only race 1 is special and race 2 is already 'normal'.

Re: HMS at IOM worlds 2007

... scheduling for race 1 is not as simple as it seems Hi Anders The Race 1 schedule is independent of the number of boats promoted and demoted, so that isn't an issue. All that is required is that (almost) the same number of boats sail in each heat of Race 1... So the current HMS suggests the foll...

HMS at IOM worlds 2007

Hi All, it looks like we're going to have a new kind of HMS event next year at the worlds with 6 boats moving up and down from each heat, and with 5 heats and max 20 boats/heat that means a maximum of 76 competitors. Hi, one argument in favor of the way it is now is that if a sailor starts out in the E-heat and then sails very well, being promoted E->D->C->B->A. so he's sailed 4 very good races allways placing in the top 4 or 6 in each heat. Then in the A heat his battery dies or he gets some other gear failure....

you can buy the battery from any battery supplier. I usually get mine from companies that make and service cell-phone, laptop, etc. batteries. They will spot-weld the cells together which looks much nicer than soldering and also exposes the cells to less heat. I use Deans micro 2R connectors in the ...
