Get the quotes right Lester. I said it was an International ISAF class. It is an International class. It is not an ISAF administered class. It comes under RSD which at present is not a division of ISAF. However it uses ISAF Rules and ISAF standard forms for the various functions and now, I am please...

Lester, you are dangerously wrong. You speak of racing as if each individual race was independent but in fact each race in a competition aggregates to give a final result. So it is not true that you can change things between each race. Once the boat is signed off at event measurement it is signed of...

On site measurement - yes, of course but are you then going to check up race on race because if not then the smart alecs will be changing things as soon as you have gone. Funny but it never seems to be them that win.......... A corinthian sport, yes I was also raised that way. It doesnt mean I dont ...

The rules might imply that adding weight but it isnt actually prohibited. What is far more important is that the battery is defined as being part of the remote control equipment (D..4(4)) and C.5.3 (d) makes it very clear that such equipment, and so , specifically, the battery may not be moved aroun...

And just where is it that you sail? Let me know and I will be there as soon as I can, waving my certificate and sailing my illegal boat that I have modified in all sorts of clever and hidden ways. God forbid that we should end up being seduced into doing the Lamboulli Swing test or anything like it ...

As a member of RSD-TC since 2002 I can confirm that. as there was no existing Association and therefore no mechanism to allow consultation with the members, the matter was, quite correctly, referred to the Tecnical committee for an interpretation. After some deliberation, we came up with one. What w...

Now is the time to be thinking about the future of the onboard telemetry that is looming on the horizon. The basics are there on racing model cars already so while I think that legalizing these meters is a good idea we must be very careful in how we word any such permissive rule or change. Otherwise...

Technically this is correct. The rules do not mention batten materials but we should be careful if we are going to specify what they can be made of. Today's expensive exotica in materials are tomorrow's standard. In this case I would say that as things seem to be functioning adequately this is best ...

ERS D.1.1. defines the hull shell as including 'the deck and any superstructure..' so while I take Roy's point that the class rule does not define the 'deck' (and in my opinion it should not even try to) the matter of where the actual attachment of the jib is is clear enough. Since the deck is an in...

Sorry, but this is just playing with words. The rules that apply could not be clearer. The battery is past of the remote control equipment and has to be placed/replaced in one position. The boat and Skipper have to comply with the rules while racing. The proper way to deal with this is by protest un...

The whole business of running championships in our branch of the sport relies on volunteers and their willingness to freely give their time. Otherwise we would be in the same place as so many of the current big boat classes and be gaily talking about coats of £20,000 per regatta to participate. Tha...

I could bore you all rigid with measurement stories but I wont. In my experience, pre-race measurement is essential to a smooth championship, and properly controlled is appreciated by the competitors. What you find at pre race measurement is always the same. The really top skippers will turn up with...

To pick up on Zoran's point, I said that one area where costs might be limited/reducedwas in the cost of the judges/umpires. It is, of course, only a part of the whole. In organising a regatta, you tread a difficult line. Things cost what they cost and for the competitors, it is the entry fee plus t...

I have not seen the weights in question myself but since Tungsten is a denser material than lead the counterweights would then be smaller and so cause a small red...

Rob, I must take issue with you on one point. You speak about overbearing emphasis on rules as being a deterrent, yet the rules are what give all of us a level playing field as far as the boats go. For me, less is always more where rules are concerned but the problem lies not with the rules but that...

Well here we are again, arguing over a non issue. The first thing that any trained measurer will tell you is that you must see what the rule says. Not what you think it says and not what anyone else thinks it says. The rule says 'One receiver'. It does not say that it has to be in one box. It does n...

Congratulations Ray, that is the same answer I would also give. Whether of not there are two 'receivers' they are incapable of working independently so can only be used as one assembly, which we generally call a 'receiver'. So in that, the Spektrum is perfectly legal, no doubts at all. The more inte...
