Re: Single Panel Molded Sails

I can't help myself. I can't wait until November. By the Regulations of IRSA (in 2003 the ISAF-RSD) as posted on their web page at http://www.radiosailing.org/document-files/administration/Regulations%20October%2003.pdf Section 6.2.5 The often referred to Interpretation has not been in effect since ...

Re: Single Panel Molded Sails

From the IRSA Regulations 6.2.5 Interpretations shall have the status of a class rule and shall remain valid for a maximum period of 2 years or until superseded by a Class rule change or modification carried out following the procedures of Regulation 6.4. So the interpretation is now out of date. Bu...

Re: IOMICA Website--What Happened?

Because of Dave's post I will give my (and it is only mine) opinion. The level of posting on these kinds of forums is cyclic at best. If you look at the history you see periods when there is a lot of exchange of ideas and questions answered. The good thing about these kinds of Forums is that the his...

Re: Geoff Smale Memorial Corinthian Spirit Award

I saw who it was in the final video except I had no idea who it was, so I asked.

The answer is that it was William Butler (AUS).

Also, Graham Bantock won the Master award, as he has apparently done before.

Attached are copies of the blank nomination form. These are to be filled out and submitted by World Council members (Executive and NCA Representatives) and returned to the Class Chairman or Secretary by September 11, 2011. I note that in the past there has generally been a form returned by at least ...

Re: What batteries are people using?

I can only tell you that my Nimh routinely came off the charger peaked well over 12V. They do drop off into the 11 range quite quickly though. If you used fresh alkaline batteries you would have right around 12 V when they were completely new but those also drop off soon.

I'm happy.

Re: What batteries are people using?

If you are using Nimh cells in your Tx and it is of the variety that uses 8 cells then the nominal voltage for those packs is 9.6 V. However that is just above the threshold where most of these radios start to alarm that they are getting low (usually around 9 V). A good 8 cell pack of Nimh come off ...

Generally (and there are a good number of exceptions) you will find that you need to go to "the pond" and mix in with your local (or other) club(s). When you are there you will meet an almost endless line of expertise who will be more than happy to take you through your growing experience. Where I a...

Re: How important is weight?

Your assumption is likely very close to right. If you are a beginner (sometimes even with some years of experience) you will gain more by getting good starts and making the right tactical decisions than 100 gm will cost you. It may all be quite beside the point if you can't find a way to get the ext...

Re: fastening the front track to the deck

You can always build it with the two ends screwed down and then once you get the #3 built and in place you should be able to find the rearmost point you will need and put another screw just behind that point. You can also do the track in two pieces; one for the jib pivot and the other for the sheet ...

2011 IOM ICA Annual General Meeting

Starting last year there was discussion about the timing of our Annual General Meeting and a desire to move it away from major events so that more attention would be paid to the meeting and there would also not be any disruption at major events that would be caused by this meeting. The content of th...

I use this stuff all the time to come up through the deck.

http://www.sullivanproducts.com/GoldnRodContent.htm

hobby shops that do model airplanes should probably have it. On line you can get it from places like Tower Hobbies (and many others).

Re: use of carbon fibre to control the rudder?

From my understanding, not the official word, for your boat, based on the pictures I have seen on another posting, the answer would be no because it will go through the deck/hull to get to an above deck rudder arm on the rudder shaft. D.2.3 FITTINGS Fittings are unrestricted except that: (a) Fitting...
