Spam "attacks" on IOM Forum

Post by Chairman » 21 Jan 2005, 09:35

Hi IOMers

Just to let you know we are experiencing a number of new "members" joining, who are only wanting us to click on their Web site links or send them e-mail. We are deleting them as soon as we discover them, but please let us know if we've missed any. And, please let us know if we've deleted you by accident!

Thanks!

Hi IOMers

We've changed the registration process a little, and now all new applications to register as a Forum member will be human-processed rather than automatically accepted. An application to register will be reviewed by one of the Forum Administrators (from the InfoComms Sub-Committee). If the application doesn't appear to satisfy the usual criteria, it will not be approved. The usual criteria include
  • A real name as a Username, NOT an alias
  • An e-mail address
  • If mentioned, a Web site that is related to the hobby and sport of radio sailing in one way or another
  • A hull number complete with country letters
  • A full name in the "Signature" field
  • "Preferences" set to
    • Hide your online status: NO
    • Always attach my signature: YES
