Graupner vs RMG sailwinch

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of the Graupner and RMG winches. I see that the Graupner is lighter than the RMG and less expensive. How does its performance compare to the RMG. Any other good winches out there.

Well this one (after a bit of searching on the web) appears to produce more torque than the Graupner

no personal experience but surely worth trying at the price (£15!) I am going to get one for my Nylet spirit, so much cheaper than the others!!!

Graupner = 4.6 kgcm, supertec =6.6 kgcm

Careful with the T125, I'm lead to believe it's limited to just one turn.

if it has more torque its likely to be lower geared and thus have more turns, are you certain it only does one turn?

Pretty sure, although I've never actually used one. They pop up on ebay from time to time.

For an inexpensive sail winch, the Hitec HS 815 arm winch is a bargain. lots of travel (about 140 degrees), fast, powerful and very reliable at just $50. It weighs a bit more than the latest digital servos but is not heavier than an RMG. The HS785 drum winch at the same price has the power and the turns but is a bit slow for competitive racing.

I seriously doubt that T125 is going to do the job in any but the lowest wind ranges. I found a drum servo that is pretty much exactly the same as the Hitec 785 drum winch for a lot less at:

It is not any faster than the Hitec one but once you get used to the speed, and learn to anticipate a bit on sail adjustments, it is quite acceptable for any club level sailing. I have used the Hitec ones on other boats and they have no real problem pulling in the sails in higher ranges. The one advantage of the slightly slower speed is that you do not have the problem with stalling your sails when you sheet in as you round the leeward marks.

Anyone tried the Eurgle winches?
I use a Graupner regatta on my Triple Crown and it works OK. First I had an RMG in it, but later I put the RMG in a Marblehead.
The RMG was faster and probably stonger, but the Graupner is OK too.

Good call on the Eurgle winches, I'll get one of those for my spirit especially as Kbits are just down the road!!

(you do need a tx with end point adjustment, but I am intending to get a spektrum D6i)
