Thanks Nigel for replying that puts me more at ease. It's just that I don't want to "mess" around with batteries and I hadn't seen that warning on regular nimh packaging - though I never really check but I don't have one around to check it either... In anycase I'll make my battery pack with these en...

Low discharged nimh batteries in battery pack
Hi, I recently acquired a few eneloop batteries from sanyo. These are the new technology of low self-discharged nimh batteries. But on the back there is a warning to not solder and not link + to -. Never noticed this warning on normal nimh batteries and I wonder whether this is just to warn people n...

My mistake I mis-read Valpro's post. thank to all for your responses - so I won't drill holes in my booms. But out of curiosity can I ask why it wouldn't be allowed ? what would be the reason(s) behind, I don't see what advantage one would gain by having lightening holes apart from gaining weight on...

these are good answers but it seems I've brought up another tricky subject as responses seems to vary. As I said in one of my earlier post my understanding was that lightening holes were not allowed (don't see really why they wouldn't mind you) but as Valpro confirmed too this is not specified in th...

Thank you for your response though that was my initial understanding as well - I can't find anything in the rules that would stop drilling holes in booms to lighten it in section F4 and since what is not in the rules is allowed !!! I haven't drilled them yet as I'd like a definite answer so to avoid...

Holes in booms
Hi, I'm not too sure on this one hence why I'm looking for advice on the rules before I start drilling my booms. some of my booms are too heavy and I'm looking to drill holes in them to reduce the weight (I can afford to loose weight as I'm slightly over anyway on the overall boat weight.) So if we ...

Moving to Spektrum ???
Hi, I'm thinking of moving over to spektrum Tx/Rx and im' not 100% sure what is the best option for our use in IOM. I have narrowed down the Dx5e or Dx6i for the Tx but really not sure what to go for in the Rx. what do people who have already made the move use for their Rx ? And can I still use my r...

Lol - thank you Steve - excellent videos and they'll be very useful to a lot of people. One problem we have here in Ireland is that it seems very few shops if any sell acetone. removing numbers in permanent maker ink on dacron sails
Hi, I need to remove the permanent ink from a permanent marker on a dacron sail - has anyone done it successfully ? I've tried nail polish remover which contains acetone but with very little effect apart from making it worse as it spread the ink. So I actually made it worse then before. reluctant to...

You're right Rob, how many times have I seen boats sailing in a collision course with another an only shouting their priority at the last minute - granted they don't have to as they're the right of way boat but still sometimes it's not that easy to see at a distance. Hi, while some of them make more sense and in particular I like dropping 17.2 like Rob said as it will allow for the boat clear ahead to be able to defent her position. However I am still dubvious about rules 20 on the obstruction. Unless I misread the rule the boat hailing for room has to wait for ...

wiring diagram for a 3pin on/off switch
Hi, I'm looking for a wiring diagram for the on/off switch it's a 3pin one.
If some has one or could explain how to wire it as I'm changing mine and I can't see how it was connected as it protected in some kind of plastic insulation.
Cheers

I'm struggling to understand why this little LCD reader would be against class rules. It doesn't add to the boat performance, it doesn't transmit information back and if anything it is a preventative measure. More is to be gained from boat tuning, correct helming and tactical choices. if we go down ...
