Re: Forum Changes?
Pedro,
Thank you for your work on the site and forums. It is so refreshing to see threads listed from the top down the way most of the English world reads. It always annoyed me to no end that Newest First was the default.
Keep up the good work

Is there a reason that the Exec has chosen to act on ISAF membership without keeping the general membership up to date on the progress? Is it to much to ask that when the Exec makes a critical decision on the future of the class that they at least ANNOUNCE said decision to the class? @ Barry - I sug...

Its not bad enough that we look like clowns because we cant figure out how to count the votes, but now we are going to spend god knows how long arguing about who is right, who is an egotistical ass, who should do what, and all the while we look like idiots. I cant imagine why ISAF doesnt come runnin...

Roy648, I have struggled with this as well. While I would like to believe I know the intent of the class rules, it is possible that ply thickness was never intended to be controlled. It is possible they intended to make legal a sail that had a 3mil head panel and a 1.5mil foot. That would still be c...

Well then I think just about every IOM sail on the planet is illegal. If you take Lester's reading of the rule, then it is incumbent upon the competitor to prove that their sailmaker used the same section of mylar for the construction of their sails. I would love to see anyone do that. What that rul...

Andy, That is certainly an admirable move, but I have to question why we should follow RSD's Regulations, when they dont follow their own Constitution. According to the RSD site the last GA was 2005. According to their constitution 6.3 A General Assembly shall be held at intervals of not less than 7...

Well we will have to agree to disagree. Quoting Roy's comments and posting his emails without prior approval are two very different things, in my opinion. I guess an important question to me is, when was the last ISAF-RSD General Assembly? edit - also, when was the last meeting of the ISAF-RSD-PC? R...

Am I the only one concerned that what was assumed to be private correspondence within the Exec/RSD is being aired publicly? I would like to think Robert had the permission of the senders BEFORE he made their emails public. If he did not, then that is VERY poor form. Now can someone explain to me wha...

Lester, Thank you for the reply. In that context, how do you reconcile pre or mid event measurement? Any of the items to be measured in Part II need only be in compliance "while racing". By that logic the boat need not be in compliance at any other time. Taken to its illogical extension, as long as ...

I am looking to get rid of all the quotes, etc. Lester, I need a simple answer to a simple question. Is it your opinion that these rules only apply while a boat is racing, ie from their prep gun until they finish? Regards, Jim PS. No offence to anyone else, but I would prefer if only Lester answered...

Re: Corrector weights
According with the dictionary to fix means attach or position securely. I will have to disagree with you here Alfonso. I spent a little time with the dictionary websites and found this... Fixed (Adjective) fastened, attached, or placed so as to be firm and not readily movable; firmly implanted; sta...

Roy, Not upset at all. I am sorry as my sarcastic tone is sometimes difficult to discern in my written words. I believe the more precise people try to make rules the more loopholes they open. I am trying, albeit poorly, to explain the matter of degrees. For example - two boats. One guy puts in a new...

So what is "the same position"? How close is close enough? And who decides how close is close enough? The same position means the exact same position. I doubt anyone could remove and replace a battery in the EXACT same position. @ Val - I sail in Michigan. By all means show up with your certificate....

This is another item that I cant help but say WHO CARES!! At initial measurement you have to show that you have a legal IOM. If at any time during the races you are found not to have a legal IOM, then you can be protested. As long as people are not using means to move the batteries while the boat is...

I can describe it as my old rig was set up this way. The previous owner put a small pad eye attached to the mast just below the middle band. The head stay passed through the hole in the pad eye and then was attached a couple inches above the middle band. The line intersected the rig below the middle...

Roy, Why is it we still only put the last 2 digits on our sails. Isnt it time to address that and put our full sailnumber on the sails? Its seems like an old rule that harkens back to the old days of ISAF - back when country IDs were only 2 characters, etc. In this instance ISAF has gotten with the ...

Can someone please explain to me how a LED or LCD readout can be construed as a remote control device? Hypothetically, say my crew of gerbils perform better if I let them listen to the stereo. Why couldnt I put an iPod and speakers on my IOM? As long as I cant control the playlist from shore.... Jim

WTB Widget, Topiko, or Xtreme
So I am looking to finally get into the IOM class and after much analysis I have decided I want a Widget (Elliott boat), a Topiko, or an Xtreme.
I would prefer a boat with servos and an A rig. No need for a Tx or Rx.
Let me know prices shipped to MI, USA.
Regards,
Jim
