Re: Kicking strap 2025 AMG
Hi Tony, At the moment there is no limit in either length or height. With the proposals, we’ll at least get a height limit. If you also want a length limit (which I personally think is unnecessary), you’re welcome to make a proposal for the next AGM. I don’t understand the logic — better to have no ...

Re: Kicking strap 2025 AMG
Hi Tony, No problem at all — I know you won’t be voting for the CRO proposal, and that’s perfectly fine. We’ll just have to wait and see what others decide. You’re a bit mistaken about the height of my rigs, though. They’re actually the same, or even slightly higher, than on most of the newer boats ...

Re: Light Air Setup....
Hi
I would open the jib sheet about 5 mm more and increase the jib foot depth to around 35 mm. I’d also make the mainsail a bit fuller in the upper part — as much as possible to still look well-shaped and can tack properly in light winds.

Re: Kicking strap 2025 AMG
Hi Tony, Thank you for sharing your perspective — but some of your statements deserve a bit of deconstruction, as they leave out key facts. First, you open by saying this situation “has become a complete mess,” yet you overlook a crucial point: this confusion was not created by IOMICA, but by IRSA. ...

Re: Kicking strap 2025 AMG
So just to clarify — you’re okay with this (see picture): Untitled.jpg where the well is partially closed off by a plate (shown as solid) attached to and flush with the surrounding deck. This is from: https://www.iomclass.org/iom-questions-and-answers/ I’m wondering, what’s the purpose of that, and ...

Re: Kicking strap 2025 AMG
Hi Olivier In 2024 there was no CRO NC submission on this subject, IOM ICA Exec voted following IOM Class Rule amendment which is valid from 12 February 2024: F.2.4 (e) Kicking strap shall be capable of passing through a 20 mm ring gauge. What was later voted for at the AGM by approx. 77% of IOMica ...

Kicking strap 2025 AMG
Regarding the CRO Resolution: CROsubmission_2025_IOM_ICA_AGM.docx.pdf The VISS kicking strap is capable of passing through a 20 mm ring gauge, confirming that it remains within the dimensional limits defined by the CRO Resolution. Its slightly curved shape was intentionally designed to follow the co...

SHRS scoring system
Dear Friends At World Championship in Pierrelatte, some of you had questions about SHRS scoring system while we were waiting for the protests, so my idea is to put all the answers and future questions here. 1. Do all competitors sails to the end of the championship? Yes, at 50% - 60% of the champion...

Re: Simple Heat Racing System
Hi Everyone First I would like to say this topic is for discussion of Simple Heat Racing System (SHRS) not how to improve current Heat Management System (HMS) for that please open new topic. Re: Moulded sails -- future rule change?
[quote="Bruce Andersen"] Then the issue of how to hold that shape comes into play - what are you going to laminate in between the layers to prevent stretch or can you find a magical single ply material that has zero stretch once molded? Additionally, big boat molded sails are designed for a rather s...

Re: Single Panel Molded Sails
Dear Don
I stretch it on the mold, but you need to spread heat very evenly (little tricky) on sail otherwise you do not get good results.
Hope this will help, for more question you or others can contact me on e-mail: zvonko.jelacic@gmail.com since I am not often on forum.

Re: Moulded sails -- future rule change?
I have to disagree with you to, since biggest problem in big boats is that you have to make mold 20m to 40m big to be able to mold the sail and that NS have protected technology from everyone else to use and then he could increase price. Soon it will be free fore every one to use and you will see th...

Re: Single Panel Molded Sails
Dear all Regarding complying with the Class Rules, I have nothing new to add. I have read current, valid IOM Class Rules 2011, studying them and I have not seen any reason to ask for interpretation. (obviously my fault). According to my knowledge, current wording permit sails which I have made. I mu...
