Hi Maximo,
if the "backstay crane" is a fitting
Class rule F 3.3 lists the backstay crane as an optional fitting. As far as I’m aware there’s no restriction on materials for fittings.

Cheers

Exec Update January 2007 World Council NCA Annual reports have started to trickle in, ok I’ve had one. But it’s a start. There’s a message on the World Council Forum, reminders will go out after January. Once they’re all in we can finalise the IOMICA Annual Report. The ESP NCA has settled t...

Then why are we wasting time with an ICA if our hard work simply gets rejected? A valid question Steve, and I was initially somewhat of a similar mind. I’d offer two thoughts: 1] The concerns expressed by RSD are, on the whole, valid. 2] I’m confident that RSD aren’t rejecting our hard work o...

Exec Update December 2006 World Council A few of the AGM Class Rule resolutions have met a mixed response from RSD, the Exec is working closely with RSD towards a solution. The likelihood is that some of the resolutions will be rejected. The Exec does not expect these issues to have any significant...

There are valid arguments from both points of view; I’ll be interested to see where this conversation goes. While I have yet to form an opinion, I would like to comment on this: I would have thought that the principal of HMS is to simulate a full fleet race I think this will ultimately fail. We ca...

Don't forget, one year from now, we'll be looking for new volunteers to do their part. We could do with a few now! There’s room on all the sub committees, and we are still to co-opt a replacement for VC Measurement, although I believe we’re close to that now. Anybody with an interest in helping...

Were you thinking of an on-line system for the NCA representatives to use as they submit results that they themselves have gathered from their owners ? Or, the bigger and more complex task of gathering votes directly from owners on-line ? My first thought was a system for NCA’s to log their vote....

What could be done better next year ? On the whole the AGM itself went ok I think. For next year I think the Exec should work on a robust & easily manageable on line voting system. This was where we stumbled a little I think. Other than that, submitting anything past a deadline should be a shooting...

OK, we have some fairly strong opinions from not very many people. Of the 224 views of this thread only 7 people felt strongly enough to voice an opinion, 3 of those are Exec offices and 1 is on a sub committee. I take it then that nobody else has concerns? Assuming that’s the case I suggest we pu...

Roy and Lester obviously have widely differing opinions on what, if anything, IOMICA has the right to control the use of. It’s my fervent hope that we don’t have to find out. Let’s assume for a moment that IOMICA does have the right to deny the Phigit Class Rules from referencing parts of the ...

AGM voting

Ladies and Gentlemen There is still time for a turn round to occur, but unless some heavy voting takes place in the next few days this is looking like it’s going to be an extremely poor turn out. I’m lead to believe that, so far, NCAs around the world have had a very poor response to the owner b...

Following your theory to extremes, does a boat with no backstay have infinite length or no length at all? Sorry, couldn’t resist that! As I understand it, it’s water line length that determines ultimate hull speed, that’s not dependant on the attachment point of the backstay. A sloped transom ...
