2010 AGM Voting Results
The votes have been cast and the results are in the attached spreadsheet. Pedro will post them on the website home page in the next day or so. Not included in this sheet are the numbers of votes that were cast in each country. It is not relevant to the results but it will show that we experienced a ...

Re: IOMICA Fees
Sure thing Neil. http://www.iomclass.org/ Look for the Events Sub Committee link on the right hand side and there you are. I should add that this doesn't mean that major events are simple to organize because that isn't the case but they are not, as I am pretty sure I can see you understand, a simple...

Re: IOMICA Fees
You know, if the Class Championship Rules, the Championship Questionnaire, and the Event Management Manual (all posted on the ICA website) were read first then many of the specific things being talked about would be discovered to not be required. There is a lot of guidance in the Manual but quite a ...

Welcome. Good luck with the build. You might do well to start getting in with your local club earlier. You might get some good advice and help with some of the details and maybe prevent some early re-fits.

Re: Graupner vs RMG sailwinch
I seriously doubt that T125 is going to do the job in any but the lowest wind ranges. I found a drum servo that is pretty much exactly the same as the Hitec 785 drum winch for a lot less at: http://www.hobbypartz.com/12exiseb1.html It is not any faster than the Hitec one but once you get used to the...

2010 AGM Voting Strength
The October 18th milepost for submission of owner lists has passed. Attached is the voting strength for each NCA based on the submissions received.
**** I mis-read the RSA numbers and over-stated the Registered owner count so this copy is adjusted to show the correct number.

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting
PLease note a typographical error in the title only of Resolution 7.5.
The numerals 3 and one, and 4 and 1 were reversed in the original version. But the rest of the resolution is exactly as worded in teh original version.
See attached revision.

It just seems a little heavy sometimes.

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting
Perhaps we need to revisit the process of how a meeting is called and the various mileposts that are required to make it all official. There is really no outlined first call for proposals or nominations, which is probably not quite right. The first real requirement is that any resolutions (and from ...

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting
All, and I will repeat ALL, NCA Representatives have known about this for some time. In addition, if you kept track, it is easy to find where Alfonso stated he would run for re-election this year on the tails of the election kerfuffle last year. So for him he has only followed up on what he promised...

Re: 2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting
After last year's election was finally resolved, Alfonso stated that he would run again this year. We have not had any luck with finding a VC Measurement. So these two will stand for one year and get the election part back on track for all positions next year. Regulations: 5.3. All Officers shall be...

2010 AGM Agenda and Notice of Meeting
The Notice of Meeting and Agenda for the 2010 edition of our AGM has been distributed to all World Council members. The meeting, as previously announced, will be conducted on November 15th, 2010. The Agenda is complete, and attached here. It will also be available via the IOM ICA Web site shortly. E...

Milestone #1 Has Passed
As I write this it is very much the end of day on September 6 so I am going to declare that the deadline for the submission of nominations and resolutions for consideration at the AGM on Novermber 15th has gone by. It will take me a few days to convert the submissions into an Agenda for the meeting ...

Pre-AGM Discussions
You will find a new section on the forum that I will use to post the various resolutions that will be part of this year's AGM. The idea is that I will start an individual topic for each resolution and then everyone can have at it. By listing the resolutions this way we can maybe keep the discussions...

Right on Roy!! If you go into a store to buy fiberglass I am pretty sure the conversation won't turn to whether you should use Spectra instead. It is not specifically authorised so until there is some request to visit it formally it is out, I would say. The better idea is likely to revisit the possi...

Setting A Direction For Future AGMs
There has been talk about setting a more fixed time frame for holding our AGMs and to try to stay away from holding them in conjunction with any actual regattas. Looking back through the history of these meetings it is fairly obvious that physical attendance at them is very small and that the time a...

Re: Push rod material
Somebody more knowledgeable than me will give the definitive answer but my understanding was that if it was a rod that was below deck and didn't have any effect on the water sealing then it was OK but if it is a push rod that comes from below deck up onto the deck, as would be the case on most skiff...

Re: Uniform date for the AGM
Not really. Personally I would say that any organization (regardless of size) that is required to have annual meetings ought to have them annually and at approximately the same time each year and usually a month or two after the financial books for the previous year are closed and complete. It is a ...

Thanks Roy.. It kind of confirms all of the other documentation pieces as well, I think. As a general observation, this helps point out how difficult it is to know that you have found all the references for any particular subject. We ( the big we, not just for IOMs) don't have a very good method of ...

Sorry, I correct my count. There was a posting from an NCA rep in support of the one owner, one vote concept. so that is 2 to 1 at this point. I should add that I think there may be some merit to that style of representation but it is not without its flaws. maybe not so much for the way the result i...

I guess that I am not of the opinion that the voting process is without flaw. But it really is pretty clear if you navigate through all of the various documents that, in the end, determine the entire process. That they are spread through a number of documents can certainly be confusing if you don't ...

I continue to be amazed to hear that there are issues with our recent votes. The only issue that I can see is that we have exactly used the written direction that are easily found in the documents that guide the organization. There has been no interpretation, no fudging, no "let's make it be this wa...

This going to be a bit long but we are bridging 3 organizations and all the associated cross references. Actually an interesting question as it turns out. The RSD-ICA agreement says: 5. ISAF Regulation 18.4 provides that the ISAF–RSD may hold one annual World Champion¬ship per ISAF–RSD Class up...

So where does that onerous task transfer to? Whether you vote as we do now or do a one owner=one vote system, someone(s) have to verify that the right people have voted and count them and audit memberships and. . . . and . . . . . and. An old mentor of mine once told me "there ain't anything simple"...

This constant inference of secrets and underhanded carryings on sure gets tired, fast. The clarification, from a good and involved source, is good to see. But it seems impossible, for a few people at least, to have any sort of "discussion" without a parting shot being fired or with some built in inn...

OK, I read. I can't conceive what is unclear. If you look at the previous wording and the revised wording, it is all about pluralism and what constitutes a continent. I fail to see how, by the words that were unanimously adopted, it can be anything other than possible (probably desirable) to accept ...
