Sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but work committments have kept me from following the class rules discussions as closely as I used to. Andy, you state below: Strictly speaking they’re all illegal, having mast fittings that are made out of something. Could you explain this, or direct me t...

Our service provider has once again suspended our account, claiming that we have exceded our bandwidth again.

However, their own statistics show that we are well under our max cpu load.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys.
We will try to work this out as soon as possible.

US NCA Web Site Is Down

Due to the increase in traffic on the US NCA site, we've overloaded (and crashed) the server once to often. It looks like the provider has given us the boot. We are looking at ways of dealing with the higher volume, most of which involve money for more server space. We sincerely regret the inconveni...

This is very interesting guys, although I think modeling something as complex as a sailing regatta will be very difficult. A couple questions about the basics. Lester, how do we define an "optimum" number of boats to promote/relegate ? At the US Nationals in San Diego, we transfered 6 boats instead ...

I wasn't at The European Championships, so I won't comment on that event.

Re: length of course at a "control area regatta", in general.
Seems pretty simple guys.
If you can't read sail #'s, the mark is too far away.

HI ED.
After a quick review of the rules, it appears that only the number and width of draft stripes is regulated. 3 on the main, 2 on the jib, maximum of 30 mm wide. Can't find anything about their orientation.

Thanks for the update Pedro.

One question. Five races the first day, three races the second day and two races on the third day. Correct ??
Seems to be a bit of a slow down.
Has weather been a factor?

Thanks for the info Lester. I apologize if I sounded a bit accusatory in my questioning of the RSD. It gets a bit frustrating dealing with minute rule changes that render previously legal boats out of spec. For those of us who have inked their sail #s on, it is simply a matter of making a large mess...

Why does the RSD feel it is necessary to, once again, make a lot of peoples sails illegal, when they have been in legal use for , in some cases several years? IOM CR Section G - Sails Rule G.2.1 - Sails shall comply with the class rules in force at the time of their initial fundamental measurement. ...

I have a couple questions re; the Class Rules change approved by the ISAF RSD PC on 12 Aug. 2004. I'm not sure when the first Texalium boats were sold, but I think there's a possibility that early models may of had their initial fundamental measurement before the 15th May 2003. Are these boats (if t...

Hi Keagan

Here's a link to the Sabal Pines Model Yacht Club.

Results are up but no pics yet.

There were a couple people there taking pictures, so I'm sure something will be posted eventually.

Cheers

I was under the impression that the "I" on all of our sails was an upper case "I". And as such, referred to an International class in the broadest sense of the word. It was stated somewhere below that "some Euro NCA's want only Euro competitors". It's saddening to hear that that attitude exists, and...

High Speed Arm Winch & Illegal Propulsion

I'm wondering if the ability to sheet in or gybe extremely quickly with one of the new Hitec digital arm winches could constitute a form of illegal propulsion. Certainly if one were to repeatedly pump the sails or execute a series of very fast gybes "unrelated to changes in the wind or to tactical c...

One other question about frequencies. Is the 75Mhz band available for R/C use in Australia and Portugal, in addition to the 40 Mhz, 27 band and Ham channels?
From reading the Frequency Management thread, it sounds like trying to run an 80 boat regatta with 47 available freqs. might be a real problem.
