1. The concept of election reform, particularly the idea of one person = one vote made its debut 6 posts below, not at the Barbados AGM. That is why there are no prior mentions of it. I like the concept both for its democracy and ease of use. The USA NCA set up an on-line voting system this year, an...

One of the points discussed at this year's AGM was having the AGM at the same time each year. People thought it would be good to be able to plan ahead and know when the meeting is scheduled. The idea of having the AGM coincide with the World Championship regatta, ostensibly to allow face to face dis...

I think you've focused in on the problem - how NCA votes are to be counted. Some think that IOMICA should decide how to cast the NCAs' votes based upon how their members vote. As you (and others) have noticed, this is not a power clearly given to the EXEC, and the resolutions to allow it are in ques...

The person in charge of measurement in BAR was a lady named Renata (not sure of her last name - the Race Organizers would know). I'm sure she is not hiding from you - not being an IOM sailor, she probably has not read your question. She had a staff of 3 helpers to do weights and floating, and I help...

Dear members of the class: Because of the confusion regarding how votes were submitted, post-processed, and recorded, I have asked the NCA representatives to re-submit their votes, specifying if they want them voted as a block or split between the candidates. The resolutions all passed with high eno...

The voting spreadsheet is an appendix attached to the AGM minutes, available on the IOMCIA homepage. It details the number of votes each candidate and resolution received.

The resolutions all passed with overwhelming margins, so on those points, the opinion of the class is clear.

I suggested the re-count be only for the offices of Chairman and VC Tech.

It will be illegal to move corrector weights during the course of the WC regatta per the SI's.

If the class passes the similar proposition on the voting agenda for the 2009 AGM it will be then sent to ISAF for approval.

The ISAF position on rules is basically: we decide on what they should say and they specify the verbage to comply with ISAF terminology, definitions, and form. Since much of the arguments on this and other boards center around the actual words rather than the intent of the rules, perhaps this may be...

Glad you agree that what the EXEC, PRO, and WC committee did regarding GBR's request for interpretation and the World Championship Sailing Instructions was OK, and that the Executive Officers at MYA wrote it properly in the first place.

GBR sent a formal letter of intent and the official application to host the 2011 World Championships to IOMICA in September of 2008. We posted this on the website. To my knowledge there is no secret deal to award the race to GBR. That being said, I am in favor of awarding the WC to them since they h...

Lester It might be a good idea to preface your declarative statements with something along the lines of "in my opinion...", lest someone get the impression that you have been assigned the role of ultimate arbiter for all things IOM. In terms of CR changes, you, either individually or (preferably) as...

Simply because that is not the way the request for interpretation reads. I have neither the reason nor the authority to change what the MYA has written. The issue of colored ply was put in to address any issues regarding the legality of using contrasting colored tabling.

Probably an insignificant point, but as you know, sometimes debate can focus on minutae.
