Calculating ranking, like the atp tennis tour...?

Discuss class championship regulations, sailing instructions, umpiring, observing, scoring software, fleet racing systems, forthcoming international events, etc

Calculating ranking, like the atp tennis tour...?

Post by Fredrik Billig » 12 Dec 2003, 13:44

Hi!

Does anyone know of any database based software for calculating a rankingsystem kind of like the atp tennis tour where different events give you points based on the quality of the competitors (based on their ranks..)?

The idea is to have a ranking for the IOM class in Sweden where sailors and results are stored in a database and managed on a website.

I can do most parts myself, but lack the mathematical skills to calculate an intelligent points system... :?
(i'm well aware of how the points system in the RRS works, btw, thats not an issue)

Why make it complicated?

Fredrik
Why do you want to make such a complicated ranking system?
A system giving u more point's the more participants is easy to handle.

Can't u try to contact those people and ask them how it's done

Hi Fredrik

ARYA's (Australia) Ranking Regulations may be a help. They were based on the MYA (UK) regulations and have been successfully used for the last two years.

You can find them at http://www.radiosailing.org.au/ranking.htm
