HMS 2002 discussion

Post by Steve Landeau » 16 Dec 2003, 23:39

HMS 2002 is a great scoring system, by far the best I've seen, used, or talked about. Can it be better? One of the things we talk about often is whether or not it would work better if you had more boats moving up and down. My thoughts are that 6 boats moving up and down in a full 20 boat heat would be better. It seems to me that the number could be adjusted depending on how many boats are in the race. With only 22 or so boats, I think 4 is the right number. But, when you have 80 + boats, I think 6 or maybe even 8 boats would work ok, at lest for the A and B heats.I'm guessing that this has already been thought through, so Peter, and others that pioneered this system, chime in and let us know.
What are your thoughts, both pro and con?
