Re: HULL MATERIALS....3D Printing. Croatian Motion.

I think it would be useful to bring us back to the two key questions of this thread. One is whether to permit fibre reinforcement in thermoplastic, the other is whether to permit cellular structures in thermoplastics. I deliberately do not mention construction techniques, 3D printing, honeycombing, ...

Hi Antonio

Yes, I think two skins with nothing between them is intended to be the same as a single solid layer.

Re: HULL MATERIALS....3D Printing. Croatian Motion.

I strongly believe that we should not list any construction techniques. They are currently unrestricted and it should be like that. 3D print is just one of available additive manufacturing techniques. We [should] restrict materials Hi Robert Hmmm, restrict materials, de-restrict construction techni...

Honeycombed Expanded Foamed Can we agree on the above mentioned? Hi Robert Well, OK, if the idea is to develop a list, then we could add "meshed" and possibly "bubbled". The difficulty I can see is there could be a new material in the future which is called, oh, "companiformed". Because this materi...

Re: HULL MATERIALS....3D Printing. Croatian Motion.

Hi Robert From the point of view of the rules we wish to make, I think we distinguish between solid materials, and materials with voids. Honeycombed, foamed, expanded, micro-ballooned, infill less than 100%, all these words and concepts refer to materials with voids or ways of creating materials wit...

Honeycombed structures are not permitted for any construction techniques. Hi Robert Yes, understood, honeycombing, foaming, etc currently not permitted. It may be worth looking at, and possibly adapting useful parts from, the two new IRSA guidelines for meetings. The problems faced by IOMICA and IRSA are very similar, as they must be for any organisation conducting asynchronous virtual meetings.

There are jack lines and there are luff wires (smile)... http://www.onemetre.net/Build/Jackline/Jackline.htm The mast acts as a turbulator (turbulence generator) just ahead of the sail. The interesting question is where you'd like this turbulence -- over the windward or leeward side of the sail? All...
