Bruce, the funny part of your previous post is that you realize now that the idea of numbers on marks is a very good one. The sad part is that the recommendation to paint numbers on the marks is in the IOMICA Event Manual (page 15), that you are the VC Events and I realized now that you have never r...

Bruce said: Ken Great idea to put IOM size numbers on the marks! I do not know wether should I cry or smile. But anyway, as Peter Allen has came into this post of the forum I would like to ask him if he knows how the control area in the next WC is going to be and how high over the sea level. I made ...

Roy, the length, draught and weight of the boat is in section C Of course, at the time of fundamental measurement we do not use the tank or the scale. Do you do that in USA? I do not need to talk with the leading sailors, because as Barry has said in this post "if everyone else was running off the e...

Roy, now I am even more concerned than before. Are you sure that if we move the corrector weights we have to re measure the boat? I was going to answer you but I have seen that John Ball has answered you in another post. Roy I remind you again that you are the VCTechnical, so take care when you make...

Roy I did not answer your question because I saw Lester's explanation and I thought it was clear enough.
Then if you agree with us that I can move the corrector weights between events you also have to agree with me that the way that owners fix them in/on the hull does not need to be very “strongâ€

Dear Jim, I like your explanation. I think it is clearer than Roy's. But that doesn't mean that I agree with you :) I got the definition from the Oxford English Dictionary. I think you can consult it in the web. If the rules were written in Spanish I would know which is the right dictionary to look ...

Corrector weights
As to your velcro suggestion please explain how attachment with velcro is "fixed" or "permanent". Dear Roy, I also use the Velcro solution to fix the corrector weights to my boat and I have no doubt that I comply with the rules. According with the dictionary to fix means attach or position securely...

First of all I have to admit that rule C.4.3. already clarify that the corrector weights can't be altered during an event, so no provision need to be made in this rule. Corrector weights are a different matter. The rules here are very clear--they are to be fixed into the hull. This to me means perma...

Proposal of GBR
Recently one of the skippers of my country imported a boat from another country and I am asking, as NCA representative, to the officer of the exporter country to send me the measurement forms. As I know that GBR made a proposal to simplify this procedure, I started reading the proposal of amendments...

Bruce is, of course, likely to be open to opinions and suggestions from interested parties. Dear Andy, how the members of the WC are going to make any suggestions or comments if we couldn't see the questionnaires submited for both parties. I asked the Exec to show this questionnaire, at least the q...

I have seen some suggestions that in the upcoming World's in Barbados, the judges will be positioned on a level above the competitors. Not sure it is appropriate to have the judges able to see better than the sailors. Judges need to be at the same level than competitors but if we have to be at diff...

As a IOM skipper (not as VC Events), I feel that if a boat is found out of measurement in a mid race check, a DSQ for that heat is appropriate. There is plenty of time to make sure your boat is legal and plenty of official measurers to certify that fact. If you have a new piece of equipment or fitt...

I am really glad to see the comments of so many top skippers about how to improve our racing system. I hope that the Exec and BAR are taking care of all these ideas. I agree 100% with Graham’s last post. Probably the mission of the buddy it should be not to watch the incidents like taking care tha...

I think that may be we are discussing for nothing. Everything started because Rob thinks that the entry fee for the next WC it is too expensive. A few posts later Zoran explained that one of the reason why Rob thinks it is too expensive is because of the depreciation of the GBP and of course it is c...

IMHO IOMICA does not need to do anything in this issue. The RRS is quite clear in this point if the measurer detect that a boat does not comply with the class rule it will be protested by the race committee and the Jury will decide the penalty. What do we have to add? whether DSQ is a very high pena...

I agree with Jeff that in future events we have to take care of race/wind conditions. But having said that, what does a good race/wind condition mean? For me good race/wind conditions means: 1º The wind comes clear from the prevailing wind directions. 2º The venue has a high percentage of days wit...
