Just wondering whats peoples thoughts on DIY Fins and Rudders, these days. I found some posts on teh subject but they were from 2005. I guess things might have changed since then.
I'm making a IOM Woodie, and would like to make my own fin and rudder, as its in the spirit of the class , to learn something, save money and sense of achievement.
I have a CNC router, but will have to upgrade my software to machine 3D. I have also just bought a 3D printer and have found STL files for the like to use.
I guess the options are: cnc machine in western red cedar ,3D print, or shape WRC by hand?
What do you think?

Re: DIY Fin and Rudder making
for a single rudder, probably most time/cost effective to simply shape one out of wood and veneer it with a single layer of light weight fiberglass
