IOM Class sail (no panels) legal?

Post by Arvin S. » 30 Jan 2006, 17:55

Can someone inform me if making a 1 piece sail that conforms to the max dimensions of A rig sails IOM class legal?

Let us say for some weird reason I want to make a set of mylar sails that are not panelled. I just cut one piece of mylar material using an existing legal A sail as a template, would that be considered class legal?

How about if I made a 2 panel sail? Meaning an A sail with only 2 pcs. of panels (with just one seam). Will this be class legal as well?

The question is for the jib as well as the main.

Looking forward to your reply, comments, insights.

The rule says : 4 panels MAX for mainsail, and 3 MAX for jib.

So 1 to 4 are legal for main, and 1 to 3 for jib.

Clear?
