0.025 SS wire - theoretically less windage because it's smooth (but probably not a detectable amount) - terminal connections more difficult - tough to control once off the boat (unless the wire is straight to begin with) - IMHO, looks better
Braided cable - terminal connections easy (swedge) - easy to control when un-rigged - perhaps less prone to kinking if caught in the hinge of your rig box - easy to carry spare shrouds with you
I've never had either break (except for a brief experiment with Ti wire!) so strength is not an issue
If I've got the time, I use solid wire - If I need to knock out a rig quickly or am feeling lazy, I use braided cable
