a simpler fix is to include American, Asian, and Pacific as approved continental championships in our Class Championship Regulations to reflect the verbage written in the ISAF RSD CCR's (Lester - see my post on the EXEC forum)
it won't open up the Continental Championships to non-European skippers as Steve's proposal would, but it would allow the rest of us to host a big regatta without effectively having a second WC in Europe.

Certainly, as and when such championships receive approval.
I think you mean the IOMICA CCRs. The RSD CCRs do not apply to the IOM class.to reflect the verbage written in the ISAF RSD CCR's
Have seen it. The rest of this forum has not, of course.(Lester - see my post on the EXEC forum)

copied from the EXEC portion of the board...
the ISAF RSD Class Championship Regulations read as follows:
2 .2 Continental Championships
Each International Class may have a Continental Championship biennially in the year when there is no World Championship subject to the agreement of RSD Permanent Committee. Continental Championships already agreed are:
(i) European
(ii) American
(iii) Asian
(iv) Pacific
our IOMICA Class Championship Regulations read as follows:
4.2. The IOM Class may hold a Continental Championship biennially in the year when there is no
World Championship. Continental Championships already agreed are:
(i) European
I propose we change our CCR 4.2 to include
(ii) American
(iii) Asian
(iv) Pacific
This would open up the possibility of 3 more large races without turning the Continental Championships into another WC and allow the rest of us to host a large regatta that encourages local skippers.
If this sounds OK I will formulate it into a formal proposal.

Technically, all IOM Class Rule changes are subject to the approval of RSD. Following Lester's thinking we would first have to come up with a Class Rule change, then ask RSD if they approve in concept, then have a class vote and then resubmit the change to RSD for formal approval.
Given the claim that RSD is said to be a "rubber stamp" for the vote of the IOM Class it would seem that the better procedure is therefore to let the IOM Class vote and then pass on any Class Rule change for RSD's approval.
